I AGREE WITH THE MANY OTHERS. too much ado about Cleaning up of Cem. Just do like my family has done for Generations. If you don't have some one else-- do it yourself. My parents and grandfather cleaned our cemetery with reap hooks on their hands and knees, and trimmed round stones with scissors. The job passed down thru the generations. We later obtained push mowers and later riders and a trimmer. I have done my share as well as my husband and our two sons. We have 7 generations on my Mother's side buried in this Cem that is somewhere between 2 and 3 acres in size. It is One of the oldest cemeteries in County, has many burials, some have stones some do not ,but we cleaned it all.. My people came from Germany and were hard working people and did not give it a thought but that your ancestors graves need to be cleaned off. We have been able to obtain some help later that was placed in bonds and interest is used to clean. Also one of my relatives left part of her estate for upkeep of Church and Cemetery. We can now hire it done as people DO NOT want to work for nothing anymore. I also have a private cemetery that has some of my father's people buried there and no one to clean. All you have to do is write a check and someone will do it and I did. I will continue to do Look up's for Knox, Adair, & Scotland Co. Cem. if others are interested, but most of my 125 messages today was about someone to clean cemeteries and not about lookups. Respectfully submitted by June Dye Kline.
