Ginny Thanks for the information. How hard is it to get documentation? I have his birth date, from his tombstone, but not much else in the way of supporting documentation. Is there a database at ancerstry.com or somewhere that I could run his name through? I'll try to remember to get back with you in March. The stone he has now is not an official military stone, so we wouldn't be talking about a "replacement". The stone he has now is, however, getting to the point of being illegible and it's broken off and laying on the ground so something needs to be done. I just wish the darn things weren't so expensive! I wonder if it wouldn't be possible for a *skilled* craftsman to reconstitute broken markers with thin iron dowels and some kind of rock-crete/fiberglass kinda stuff.
