Lauri, Mt. Olive Cemetery is located at 3906 Mt. Olive Rd. Lemay, MO 63125, this is in South St. Louis County. Mount Olive Cemetery was the name given to the Catholic burial ground belonging to St. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Carondelet. This old burial ground was opened in 1823 but by 1839 it was full and was then closed. In 1849 due to the Cholera Epidemic John Sigerson gave a part of his farm, just west of Carondelet to the city of Carondelet to use as a cemetery, the northern portion was dedicated for Protestants while the southern portion was dedicated for Catholic burials. Together they were referred to as the "Sigerson Cemetery."
