Annual cleanup and business meeting of the Wilson Cem. in Ripley Co. MO, was successful April 14. Leaves were raked, trees were trimmed, sunken graves were filled, some old disintegrating flower arrangements were removed. Much more needs to be done to get this cemetery really nice. It is maintained by donations only. At the meeting it was noted that each mowing cost $85.00. Last year it was mowed 5 times. At the cleanup it was already in need of mowing. One person made a request that the fence be replaced with a chain link one. That would really be great, but no one could think of where the money would come from. I am sure that is what is happening at all the little country cemeteries. More people that have family and friends buried in them needs to get involved. There are many unmarked graves in this cemetery. Some had been marked only by a field stone and a lot of those have disappeared. B Smith Having a cool night in MO.
