Elaine, Yes, she said her husband had heard the story too and the cemetery is as they said. The stones are stacked and the cemetery was in the process of being repaired when this gentleman died. His paperwork and the transcriptions are missing. Dean said he would pass the information on to the group that continues volunteer work in Cole County. He is not doing much anymore because of his health, I suppose. He has restored many cemeteries and has made a contribution to honor the dead that not many others can say they have done. Everyone that knows him credits him with saving many graves and the research for many genealogists.
