Hello Maureen, Since you have had computer problems, I will paste in a message I sent to you around Thanksgiving. It might be the one you remember. Judy Are you sure that your grandparents attended a school for the deaf in Missouri? Since you mention Kansas City, I thought you might need to know about the Kansas School for the Deaf at Olathe, Kansas, a KC suburb. My g-grandmother attended school there in the 1880s when it was the Kansas Institution for the Education of the Deaf and Dumb. I have contacted them by email and in person and they were very helpful either way. They gave me a photocopy of her admission application which gave a lot of information, cause and term of deafness, health and intelligence, parents' and brother's names and birthdates, mother's death, family financial information, guardian after father left Kansas. Unfortunately, the space for a picture and description of her were blank. The lady at KSD told me they were planning to open a museum and had many items and photos boxed up, but when I visited late in 1999, the museum was on hold for lack of funding.
