In the past forty years I have been desperately working to preserve a small cemetery in St. Louis off of Old Big Bend Road. It was established in 1866 and is one of five slave burial grounds in Missouri. I included a lot of important photos, research and documentation in my book "Gone, but not Forgotten." I have recently put together another book about this cemetery called "A Grave Undertaking." If you would like to purchase a book(s) all the proceeds go back to Quinette Cemetery and its preservation. Each book costs $16.95 (plus $2.00 postage). You can mail me at 1269 Avery Ct, Kirkwood, MO 63122. I will also be teaching a class at Meramec Community College on October 20, 2007 about cemetery preservation. There will be a lecture from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and fieldwork from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Each class costs $8.00 and you can register online at www.stlcc.edu or you can contact me for a registration form. My email is keith4yia@hotmail.com, contact me if you have any questions. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
