    1. Re: [MO-CEMETERIES] MO-CEMETERIES Digest, Vol 2, Issue 167
    2. Beverly, I did some research yesterday and noticed that there are no Wm. J. Merriott's listed in the Ceme records for Morgan county. I did fin a Wm Merriott b:Nov 18, 1844 on a death certificate that should have been listed in Richie Cem. but wasn't He probably never had a stone since he died May 18, 1929. He died of Influenza. He was born in KY also. There is a William Merriott buried in Richie Cem but all that is listed for him is that he was in Co. D 6 MO Cav. and is buried in G15. There is also a Jennie Merriott b: 1874 died 1955. And then there is a Emily Craig Marriott wife of William. She is buried in G16. That's a problem because the spelling is different. If your Wm. J. lived in Moreau Twp. he lived very close to my Merritt family. When I was about 11 years old there was a Merriott family that lived on Route 2 across from our farm. My grandmother said they weren't related to us because our family came from West Va. and they were from somewhere else. The problem with so many spellings was not they people couldn't spell the names but that there were so many variations that people assumed the spelling and so got it wrong at times on certain documents. I continue to look but have found nothing further yet. Bonnie Morris Conrad ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
