Calvin What a wonderful thing you are doing, cleaning up and taking care of our old cemeteries. Your web site is great, I was vistor 177. Just wish I could find my great grandfather William J. Marriott d. 1892 in , Morgan, MO. One day I will. You are so right about listening to your elders when they are telling their stories. A friend of mine, my sister and I are trying to set up a website for Kerlin Cemetery which is located near Halls, MO in Buchanan County. As time permits we go and photograph the tombstones and transcribe the writings on the tombstones. Kerlin is usually mowed a couple of times each year. However, the grass was about a foot tall. Trying to find the tombstones was nearly impossible. Last Sunday several of us who have family buried there met to mow and weed-eat and clean up the cemetery. This cemetery is one of the oldest in Buchanan County. It is located in the bluffs on a pretty steep hillside. My main fear was snakes. And, most of the snakes would either be copperheads or rattlesnakes. Luckily, all that was seen was 4 garter snakes. Moreover,, I didn't actually see any! I was sure proud when we got home. We had really did something that day cleaning it up. Below is the link for the website. You can click on the thumbnail and see all of us and the hillside behind us that we had to contend with. And, as time permits, I will be adding more names and pictures. My gr-gr-gr grandfather William McCoy was buried at Kerlin in 1866.
