I went to Indiana Prairie Cemetery today in Franklin County. Most of it looked very well taken care of but there were several fenced in graves that were just filled with tree limbs and very overgrown. There are so many old graves there that you cannot read any more. There was a barb wire fence around the cemetery and I could see stones on the other side of the wire. There are new homes surrounding the cemetery. It's a shame people do not write down the information before it becomes unreadable. I was given the name of a person who knew the most about this cemetery, I am going to try and get in touch with them. I don't know if they would have any more records than what is on rootsweb but I would like to know. I have been looking for my relatives for a long time and they are probably in a cemetery like this somewhere in Franklin County, these graves are old and untended by family members. Can anyone go in the fenced in areas and clean them up? There are about 3 or 4 areas fenced in within the cemetery. Looks like no one has done this for quite some time and I would just like to see what they use to look like even if you cannot read the names. It looks like there are stones just laying anywhere (?) Kids probably did the re arranging. Kinda hard to know where they go unless we could find the records....... Jackie __________________________________ Yahoo!
