This is a Civil War battlefield death, Right? Would he have not been buried where fallen? Big Blue River would be in Jackson Co. Mo. Write Missouri State Archives, JeffersonCity MO. Perhaps the battle records will say if they sent bodies and where. -----Original Message----- From: mo-cemeteries-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:mo-cemeteries-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2007 2:59 PM To: MO-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MO-CEMETERIES] Vance, William This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Since I put the first post on the message board I have found cousins who had the death certificate. He was buried in Emory Cemetery, Texas county, Missouri. He was a farmer to the census takers and bootlegger to everyone else. His son Sparrile Green, who was from his first wife in Patrick county, Virginia, came with him to Missouri and I talk to his grandson who tole me that "Greeny" was also a bootlegger and he had 15 children. His youngest son had 10 of his own so I have more Conner relatives in So. Missouri than I can count. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Glee, You might want to check out the Shelby County GenWeb site at the link listed below: http://www.rootsweb.com/~moshelby/index.htm It has a lot of information that might be of help to you if you take the time to sort through everything. There are cemetery indexes listed there in MS Excel format, although I didn't find any for the King/Cedar cemetery itself. There is an index for three separate cemeteries listed in Bethel Township, and I found the below listed Van Osdol names listed there under the index for the Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in Bethel Township. Don't know if these are family members or not, but suspect that they might be because of the unusual surname. VON OSDOL, Mary Elizabeth Born: 1871 Died: 1954 VON OSDOL, Mary Matilda Born: 10/14/1892 Died: 04/03/1948 VON OSDOL, James M Born: 03/09/1870 Died: ???? VON OSDOL, Ruby Born: 1909 Died: 19?? VON OSDOL, Scott Born: 1874 Died: 1960 VON OSDOL, Snoda Born: 1908 Died: 19?? Also, found the following description of the King/Cedar Cemetery, listing it's location and some description as to the general upkeep of the place. King a/k/a Cedar Taylor From the records of the Shelby County Historical Society (apprx. 1971)...Located 3 1/2 miles north and 1 1/4 miles west of Epworth. Fenced, stones in good shape, maintained and good records kept, but has not always been that way. A few unmarked graves. Don't know if this is of much help to you but I would suggest that you check it out. There are also some volunteers listed on the site who might be willing to get the pictures of the graves that you mentioned in your message. Good luck in your further research. Hello, I am new to this list. I have many ancestors and relatives who have lived and died and are buried in Shelby Co. I hope that there is someone on the list who lives in Shelby Co. and would be willing to take some pictures of graves for me at King Cedar Grove Cem., Bethel, MO. My great grandparents George Hotchkiss Van Osdol and his wife Catherine Vawter Van Osdol are buried there and many others of my family. Also does someone have a book on the cems of the county and who is buried in them. If there is such a book is it possible that I could get a copy of it? I can list people who I think that are buried in the county someplace but need someone who can look them up for me. I have dates and places to go with the most of the names. Hope that there is someone who can help me. Glad to pay for time and trouble. Like pictures send to me in e-mails if possible. Saves everyone time and trouble. Thanks, Glee Vab Osdol Krapf

Hello list, My GG Grandmother, Susannah Addams Hunter, wife of Wyatt Hunter, is buried in the IOOF Cemetery in Hurdland, Knox County, according to her death certificate. She was born December 27, 1822 in St. Louis and died October 15, 1917 in Hurdland. Would it be possible to get a photograph of her gravestone, if there is one? I would be happy to pay any expensive involved. Thank you, Carol Hunter Southwick in NJ ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. Can someone check Gone but not forgotten in the Troy City Cemetery for a George W. Farmer d. 1901 and his wife Annie Farmer d. 1923? They are my great great grandparents but I do not have the oppertunity to go to the cemetery to try to find them. I was told they were buried in seperate plots and that Annie is buried in my grandpa's aunt Cooley's plot. I have not been able to find an inventory of the cemenary nor have a found anything that would help me find the location of the tombstomes in the cemetery even if I did have a listing of them. I would like to get a photo of their tombstone. George and Annie got married in 1865 right after George got out of the confederate army after the war. They lived in Troy their whole married life.
