    1. Re: [MO-CEMETERIES] Veteran headstone
    2. Mary Jo
    3. Thank you to everyone who answered my post last spring about getting a Civil War veteran headstone. There will be a headstone dedication ceremony done by the Missouri Sons of the Confederacy on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest cemetery, Fulton, Callaway Co., Missouri. My great grandfather, George Washington Herring Jr. was a Civil War veteran and his original headstone has been missing for many years. The Sons of the Confederacy helped me obtain a new Civil War Veteran headstone, and they will do the ceremony, dressed in costume, etc. I think this will be very interesting to watch, and everyone is welcome to attend. If you want more information, please send me a note. Jo

You can request a volunteer to take a photo for you. The listing was put on by someone who wanted to remain anonymous. You can enter the information you have on the cemeteries on www.findagrave.com and then ask for a volunteer to take a photo. Since you apparently have some of the obits or else by using the death certificates on line you can probably get birth and death dates and also which cemetery they are in. If anyone lives near the cemetery and would be willing to take pictures of the headstones, I would really appreciate your help. Please get in touch with me prior to going to the cemetery and I'll make sure you have the information you need to identify the headstone(s). Not sure exactly how many are buried there right now as I'm still working on that family. Thanks in advance. Twila
