I did find one stone with MORGAN Francis M June 28 1858 -Dec 19, 1942 and Julia A. July 4, 1862 - July 16, 1951. It was a two sided stone. The other side had FITCH Mytle Morgan July 16, 1891 - Nov 1990 and Homer Jack Apr 28, 1886 - June 15, 1955. This cemetery has many stone, also many flat stones. They are also arranged randomly facing many directions. If our weather holds nice like today, maybe I can try again. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: fbaggett48 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.cemetery.us.mo/1805/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, While out garage shopping one Friday my Aunt and I came across a small cemetery--it had been covered over by large trees. It is near a residential area--I asked around and was told that the trees that had covered the graves had been destroyed and cut down due to a storm. When removed they found the graves. These are the graves of John Barton, and his wife Mary and children. There is a log rail fence around the graves and there is easy access to them. The rail fence had been there and residents thought it was put up to guard the old trees. The location is in Farmington, Missouri, St. Francois County. The graves are in a 16 yard diameter circle surrounded by log rail fence. This cemetery is located off Hillsboro Road on Annie Lane in Morgan Oaks, a subdivision north of Farmington. THE GRAVES John Barton Born Dec 25, 1828 Died May 2, 1905 Age 76 yrs, 4 months, 5 days "Gone to Better Land" (Note: the stone is broken) Mary wife of John Barton Born Jan 11 1841 Died Oct 27, 1876 Age 35 YR, 9 M, 16 Days "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God" Note: Mary's stone is lying down. Next to Mary are two small stones: "In Memory of Sarah E" Born May 14, 1872 Died Feb 17, 1876 Age 3 Yrs, 2M, 27 Days George T Born Jan 12, 1875 Died Jan 21, 1875 Age 9 Days Below the stones it says "Children of John & Mary Barton" Found two footstones-- One footstone reads "MB" One footstone reads "JB" Both of these should be for the John and Mary mentioned above. Although they belong to those graves the footstones seem to have been moved. There are three large stones or rocks which could also be markers and have nothing written on them. Near these stones/rocks is a marble marker with the initials: "G T B"--this may be the base footstone for the child George T mentioned above although it is not near the child's marker. These were the only noticeable graves but there could be others. The residents keep the cemetery well groomed. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
