    1. [MO-CEM] Re: MO-CEMETERIES-D Digest V01 #9
    2. Clines Island is west of Sikeston in Stoddard county. It had two settlements when I was a young boy, 1, The store called Clines Island on the northwest end of the island where the river split, and 2, Birds Corner on the east side of the island. I think that today county roads "Y" and "AB" run along the northeast side and CR 581 on the southwest side. The island is about 2 miles long. I went hunting there as a boy but do not remember seeing any cemeteries. Regards, Curt Johnson Bartlesville, OK

    2. Rick Huff
    3. I am just now responding to a discussion about locating an Island in Missouri that was on this site in late December or early January. This might not be the right one, but will pass it on in case someone is interested. My Grandfather had mentioned several times a Cline's Island somewhere near Essex, Missouri, and today I asked him for more specific details. Cline's Island was, according to him, a small crossroads settlement with only a general store and a bootlegger somewhere out in the bushes. It was located on Castor River north and east of where he lived east of Essex, 8-9 miles away. He mentioned that the river made a horseshoe bend near Cline's Island; also that a man named Breeze had a store near Cline's Island on Parma Road and they had him up in court about a boy that got shot.

    2. I'm particularly interested in the BRIGGS and DANIELS family. I believe some of the Daniels are buried in Downing cemetery. I haven't a clue where Robert Wroe Briggs is buried. I'd like to find his family as they adopted my great grandfather. The last I know is that he and his wife, Lydia Josephine, lived in Downing or maybe Lancaster. I am hoping they are buried there also. 3. I am looking for the cemetery where William B SMITH and Elmira JOHNSON are buried. They moved to Mo from Tn about 1841, settling in either St Francois or St Genevieve county. Elmira JOHNSON died about 1842, and William B SMITH died about 1851. This information was from Goodspeeds History of Southeast Mo. Any help finding the Cemetery would be appreciated. Thanks Sam

    3. O.K., I've looked in all the counties in MO that I know and cannot find: Cora Lewis (b. 1895) or her husband, John Lewis (no idea birthyear, but he was about same age as her, I think). They were both Pentecostal preachers, and moved from Oregon County, MO to Rolla (Phelps Co.). I have searched these two counties, and can't find their graves. They died, and it's a guess at best, in 1940-1950's. Any help on their location is appreciated! Lanita Sconce Miller Wichita, KS
