There is an Enon Cemetery in Macon County, MO north of Callao, MO.
I have been told that perhaps Enon Baptist Church and Cemetery could be in Wishart, Polk Co. area. Does anyone know of this, or live close by? I am looking for a Cemetery book or anything to confirm the burial sites of Rev. George Wilson, Robert Wilson, and many Copelands. Thank you JOyce
I believe the reason behind my previous posting was completely misunderstood. My intent was to point out the need for a descriptive subject. The secretary in any efficient office will file under a subject matter, should we not do the same. Believe me I am far from perfect and frequently fail in this same manner. All I was trying to point out is help the people that may do lookups by pointing them to your posts. For example todays Digest contained 12 postings, one must open each of them to identify contents. Pennville, Mo must be one of the smallest towns in Missouri. It is approximately 3-5 miles north of Green City probably on HY YY. Pennville is located on GNIS Map "Green City" GNIS does not list Pennville Cemetery, but then again the GNIS maps are being updated continuously and do not always contain all cemeteries. I believe I would write the Clerk of Green City and ask for his help in locating the Cemetery or failing that the funeral homes within a 25 mile radius of Green City. The coordinates of Pennville, MO are 40.21.92 North, 92.56.48 West, Green City is 40.16.07North, 92.57.11 West. I see 2 churches in Pennville, one east and the other west of HW 129. Perhaps the cemetery is near one of these. Pennville is on Highway 129 southeast of Unionville, MO in Sullivan County. Hope this helps. Vicki
Hi Listers, A great tool to find locations in any state is the USGNIS a government mapping service found at: http://geonames.usgs.gov/gnisform.html You can put in the name of a land feature such as Wilson, choose Mo. from drop down list, choose cemetery from next drop down list and then Send Query. The search will come up with all the Wilson cemeteries in Mo. ( I found 15). Then you click on the individual ones say in Camden County. Another page comes up that will give information, then near the bottom of the list is "Show Feature Location". Click on that and you will get a map of the area that contains the feature and you can zoom in and out to locate the bigger towns etc. Also, something about mailing lists that I did not know when I started my searches a year ago. You subscribe to a "list mode" and you receive individual messages with their own subjects and those using IE with preview pane open see the message when it is chosen. The subject isn't too important if ever noticed. But those of us that get "digest mode" will receive one email every so often with a list of "subjects" as an attachment. All we see is the subject. Now if we know we are not interested, and can't help the person that started that "subject" we tend to skip it the next time it appears. Shouldn't say we, I tend to. But if the message has nothing to do with the "subject" I will miss a new topic which I might be interested in or could help with. So it is to everyone's advantage to put in their own subject line whenever they send a message. I am not sure about any other program but my set up gives me a link to the list in every message I read. If you click on that instead of "Reply" you get a new message form that forces you to fill in the subject. I don't mean to preach---only share information I have learned and to help others. Barb

I would also appreciate this information since I also have relatives including a connection to George Wilson who are buried in the Enon Cemetery. I do not know where it is located either, but was told long ago that it was near Wishart in Polk County. I hope this little bit of information helps locate the cemetery. Wilson Cem. in Newton Co., Mo. is located close to the juction Hwy. Y & Old U.S. 60. It is in Sec. 17, Twp. 24, Rge. 33 Legal: PT NW1/4 NW1/4. I'm pretty close to it. Is there something that I could look up for you. I'd be glad to help if I could. Fred D. Edens
Reference is made to MO-CEMETERIES-D Digest V01 #73. There were 4 messages in this Digest all with the same subject "Wilson Cemetery in Ripley Co. MO". Believe it or not, not one of these messages had anything to do with Wilson Cemetery, one asked a question on how close to Ripley, Mo was Carrollton, while two were questions about individual connections Wilson surname connections while the 4th had nothing to do with the other three notes. To answer the first query: The Wilson Cemetery being referred to is in RIPLEY CO., MISSOURI which is in the south eastern part of state near the boot heel, while Carrollton Missouri is the County seat of CARROLL CO. which is in the western part of the state east of Kansas City. I would estimate that it is close to 250 miles between these two points. There are 15 WILSON CEMETERIES in Missouri, CAMDEN CO., CLAY CO., COLE CO., GENTRY CO., HOLT CO., LACLEDE CO., LAWRENCE CO., MADISON CO., MILLER CO., NEWTON CO., RIPLEY CO., STONE CO., WASHINGTON CO., and 2 in LINCOLN CO. The above Cemetery located in LAWRENCE CO, was probably next to the WILSON UNION CHURCH, the is also a WILSONS CREEK church in Greene County, there may be a cemetery next to the church. There is also a WILSONTOWN CHURCH in Adair Co., which may have a cemetery next to the church. Without a good map of the state you are working, you cannot hope to find all these small towns, cemeteries, and other points of interest. The best and cheapest place to obtain one is from the Visitors Bureau, they are FREE. They will even mail it to you at no charge. Do yourself a favor and make your subject match the subject matter of your note. Hello Sue, It's really hard to tell at this point in time because I haven't yet found my gggrandfather's birth place. I believe it was TN because that is where my ggrandfather was from, but haven't proof yet, that he was even born there. Just reared, married and they had part of their 10 children in TN and the rest of them in Faulkner County, AR. I'd like to find out the starting point of the Wilson's that are connected here in this country and just where they came from over there. That will take a lot more work and that's why I'm anxious to find out about each family of the Wilson's as they appear on the genealogy web sites. I have found a lady whose ggrandmother was my ggrandmother's sister that way. Actually I went to the library and looked at a cd there that I'd read about on my Family Tree Maker Program. The day after having a list of names from this CD I spotted her on a site out of AR. Oh, I did have an Uncle W. Orb living in Sedalia, MO with wife Bonnie, both dead now. He had worked on the railroad there, I heard my father say. Thanks for responding I will make a copy of your information and who knows what comes up next. I was given a letter with no date. The people want info about Jacob Andrew Varns, b. 8 Sep 1832 and d. 14 March 1904. On 26 April, 1855, he married Elizabeth Moshoube (I really can't read this name.) She died on 16 Apr. 1900. My father was Charles Edward Varns. I think my father was from Craig. My question is, "What nationality were Jacob & Elizabeth? I would like to know what country they came from."
