GNIS only lists the Brainard name with the coordinates of 40 08 23 N, 97 33 01 West and can be found on GNIS map "Spickard" If you can't find a funeral home ask a monument company, they may also have a map of the cemetery. Thanks Barb - I typed the info for the web site so I know what the legal description is but when I asked an "expert" to translate and we went to that location there wasn't a cemetery to be found. Thanks anyhow. Have you tried contacting a local funeral home? They usually are very sharp on locations. Jeanette

Yep, that Polk county one is 0.8 miles NNE of Wishart. It's in a rugged area with a nearby cave. Wishart does still exist. I checked my phone book. No post office any longer though.(1884-1957) It must be very small. I even looked on my map, & it's not listed. Bolivar is the county seat & I am real close to that city. Is it Bailey you're looking for? There was, or is, an Enon in Moniteau Co. according to "Our Storehouse of Missouri Place Names," by Ramsay. Hope this helps. Hi Joyce, According to the book, An Index To Cemetery Lcoations In The Missouri Ozarks, there are three listings for Enon Cemetery: Cole County Sec 9 Twp 43N Rng 14W Dent County Sec 21 Twp 34N Rng 7W Pok County Sec 9 Twp 32N Rng 23W There is also an Enon Cemetery in Ray or Clay County, Missouri. Thank you everybody for your help. Now, I have to find out about the Enon Baptist Missionary Church and Cemetery that was there. Somebody said the cemetery was on the web, so I will try to find it. Joyce
Hi Rita. So Bolivar is the county seat. I'm looking for George Lewis Wilson, Jr., Mary (Polly) Copeland Wilson, Rev. George Lewis Wilson. There are other Copeland relatives and possibly other Wilson family buried there also. Thank you so much. JOyce
If you purchase a Missouri Atlas and Gazetteer Wishart is shown in it. You can buy them on line for most states in the union at www.delorme.com I have the Missouri one and it is great. Vicki
Wishart is south of Bolivar and northwest of Morrisville. Looks like possibly a railroad town.
Wishart, MO is definitely on the Polk County, MO map even today. True, there is no longer a post office there. It is located in the SW part of the county just a few miles north of Morrisville, MO, in the general direction of Bolivar, the county seat (where I live today). At one time, there was even a railroad through that small village on the route between Bolivar and Willard, MO. Once, I knew a college student who rode a train from Peabody, MA to Wishart, MO back in the 1930's. The train ticket had an unbelievable number of transfers and was several feet long. But that is another story with a romantic ending. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rita Myers" <mamamia88@hotmail.com> To: <MO-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 16, 2001 9:30 PM Subject: Re: [MO-CEM] Wishart, Mo. We found our Missouri atlas at Walmart.....
The Enon Cemetery you are seeking is probably the one about ten miles East of Omaha, Arkansas on Highway 65, just South of Branson, Missouri. In a very remote location, in Carrol County, but accsess from Omaha is the only route I know into the area. If you think this is the one you want I can send more detailed information on how to get to it, and photos of the cemetery. My wife has kinfolk buried there and we have been there as recently as last fall. Also, on the Internet is a site that lists the persons interred there. Dave-B
Hi Rita No, I don't know where Wishart is. However, my family did live near the towns of Bolivar, Hummansville, Dunnigan, Fairplay, all in Polk Co. Could there have been a town of Enon in Polk Co? I have a record here that shows a great Aunt and Uncle got married in Wishart, Polk Co. That was in 1892, so perhaps the town is no longer. Thank you joyce
