    3. Hi Paul, Thank you so very much for your time and the great directions to both cemeteries. I really appreciate it! Also, will remember to keep head down low when visiting Hampton Cemetery! My father-in-law's family all hailed from Platte Co. and surrounding counties in MO. There are a great many relatives buried around there, Blakleys, Shepards, Millers, Lewis's, Kimseys & Settles to name a few. Thank you so very much, Dianne Blakley in AZ ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, July 17, 2005 12:10 AM Subject: Re: [MO-CEM] Hampton Cemetery, Platte Co., MO > Hi Diana, > > The Platte City Cemetery location is 39 22 30 N Latitude 94 46 47 W > Longitude > > From the Platte City Exit off I-29 follow Rte 92 Northwesterly 1.35 mile > into > Platte City proper to a jct with Rte N, instead of following Rte N South, > take the city street North 1/2 mile. 2. Hi Diana, The Platte City Cemetery location is 39 22 30 N Latitude 94 46 47 W Longitude From the Platte City Exit off I-29 follow Rte 92 Northwesterly 1.35 mile into Platte City proper to a jct with Rte N, instead of following Rte N South, take the city street North 1/2 mile. It is a large cemetery. The Hampton Cemetery location is 39 16 55 N Laitude 94 49 30 W Longitude Now go back to the Jct of Rte N and Rte 92 in Platte City. Follow Rte 92 South 7.0 miles to a Jct with a county road, follow the county road East 1.0 mile to a 2nd Jct ( but note a possible problem here as my maps are old and a new section of Interstate has been built across this section of road and I don't know if this road still goes through.) assuming it does, take the county road North 1/2 mile to a 3rd Jct. From there go East 1/2 mile. The cemetery lies north of the road. Duck when the airplanes go over, you'll be right off the end of the runway of KCI airport. Paul

I'd be very surprised if it actually has all the cemeteries with all the correct names. I know the Jasper Co. MO maps have mistakes. I still appreciate them, we all make mistakes. http://bartoncounty.lib.mo.us/Barcolib/cemetery_map.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~mojasper/maps.htm I'm not that familiar with the Barton Co. MO area, but if John Schehrer says it's somewhere, I'm willing to say it's there. He's the one placed it on Ann Bush's MO[CEM] Message list site and FAG. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mocemete/mocem.htm He has a great site of his own, you'll probably enjoy. http://www.homestead.com/schehrer2/index.html I'm also originally from the area, so to speak, Galena, KS. I got this info off of an "In Memory" paper in my Grandmother's Bible. This actually showed my Great-Aunt Jessie Lea HARLOW's funneral and burial information. It stated that she was "buried in the Wright-Harlow Cemetery in Golden City, Missouri." This was in 1967 in Golden City, Missouri. I personally lived in Joplin, Missouri when I first married in 1969. Golden City, Missouri was only about an hour away, although at that time, I didn't remember having heard that I had relatives buried there. Perhaps the name was printed wrong and it was the Harlow-Wright Cemetery, but still it was in Golden City, Missouri. I will try searching for a Harlow-Wright Cemetery instead so thank you for that information. Cecilia Stumpf Hughes CA

    3. Paul, since you didn't leave any of the message, I may be wrong in what I think you may be talking about. Check the attached messages, if this is what you mean then... Here goes briefly, this message list is now connected with the Missouri Cemeteries queries at rootsweb. When someone posts a query there or answers it, we also get it on the MO[CEM] message list. http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=an&p=topics.cemetery.us.mo When someone answers on the message list without going to the actual query to answer from the site, the person who posted the query, if they are not a member of the message list will never see the help they received from the message list. Those of us on the message list if we want to help the people who posted the query will click on the link that accompanies the query and answer from the site, not the message list. I've been registered with both the rootsweb and ancestry message boards for so long, I don't remember what is involved. It was nothing major or I wouldn't have done it. I was even less computer literate then than I am now, and I'm still not very knowledgeable about computers. Orlena I guess I'm computer illerate, I haven't the foggest idea what you're all talking about. Paul Orlena <[email protected]> wrote: Wayne, It's only a downside when people don't understand how it works and don't allow for the differences. I like the link between the list and site myself. Maybe, because I use both places. When the message comes from the site, I go there to answer it. There are advantages to answering from the site. I was disappointed when I first realized they weren't connected. I was used to the KS[CEM] and others that were connected. This way I see what comes in without having to go to the site to check them. When I want to answer and it comes from the site, I click the link and I'm there. I answer and the persons sees it as well as the List. It's easy to tell the list and site queries apart. 2. I would like to point out a couple of items concerning requests for help. When asking for lookups about family members please do yourself a favor as well as the persons who may be able to help. Ask yourself this question. 1. If I were hiring a professional genealogist who charges an hourly rate would I give him any data? A. Need all the data on the STAUDER FAMILY. B. Need information on the burial of JOHN STAUDER. C. I am researching the family of JOHN ADAM STAUDER, born 5 Feb 1818 in , RUPPERTSBERG, BADEN, GERMANY, to U.S. in abt 1833 and settled in Illinois. married MAGDELENA KLONICH before 1835 she was born about 1807 in BAVARIA, GERMANY, they had 8 known children. If you posted the "B" above only to be given the information in "C" and then be charged a $100 for the same information you already had along new copies of death certificates and IGI printouts only to find out that there is at least one other JOHN ADAM and 23 additional John and variations of the Given name born in Germany during the same periods of time. Be courteous enough to at least provide the Volunteer with the same type of information you would give to the guy who is charging you. Oh yes, also remember to send him/her a thank you note. You just may need their help in the future. And make it something more than "Thanks". Bill
