    3. This is just a thought but, once a year in the town I live in we hold a town cleanup. We have a town beautification committee. The big project this year was to renovate the town hall, they put in lights outside, stone benches, flower beds, laid some new brick, painted all the windows, tore up and re-sodded the lawn) And once again the building is beautiful and preserved. But once a year there is a list of things to do to help cleanup and brighten up our town - it makes one feel good to know that we live in a place where everyone feels a clean town is important to us and to visitors. My point is the Cemetery is always on the list, whether it be for weeding, or righting up falling headstones, (during the year, the town is responsible to mow etc.) we all break into groups and go our ways, and at the end of the day we enjoy a town BBQ. I think everyone should be involved in activities such as this one. We have all the church groups, schools, etc, we all get involved. Think about it 100 people x 5 hours even = 500 man hours... alot can be done in 500 hours. And yes I would be most embarrassed if my ancestors knew that I did not care about where they lay in sleep.... Just my piece of mind.......... 3. William Henline (Hainline, Haneline, etc.) is supposed to have died in Marion Co, MO between 1850 and 1860. He is reputed to be a vet of the War of 1812. Does anyone have a transcription list showing where he is buried? Is there a book or listing at a local library there? I couldn't find his name on any I could find on the net. I hope to be going up there soon. His spouse Elizabeth Deadmon Henline may be buried there also. R Ellis Austin, TX

    2. Hi, It seems that most cemetery location research in Missouri is being done on a county by county basis. Many counties are doing well, others not so well and then many are doing almost nothing. Most of this work is being done by dedicated individuals who enjoy such work. Organizations usually don't have the time or money to field teams to cover large areas. It takes several things to enable an individual to pursue this hobby. Namely, the time, the money, the equipment, the understanding of location methods, the physical stamina and the desire to do research and perservance to brave cold, heat, dogs, ticks and the necessity of knocking on many doors, climbing fences and thrashing through buck brush to attain their goal. And the ability to call it fun is a plus. So is the ability to read a badly eroded or seemingly blank tombstone as plus. I have also found it a good idea to be able to explain to the county sheriff just why you've be driving up and down a little used back county road all day. Paul

There is a cemetery on Big Bend rd. just across from where Ballas deadends into Big Bend It was not taken care of the last time I was by there but Bonhomme Township is in West St. Louis County and this little cemetery is inside the city limits of Kirkwood. So that may be where your jourdan ancestor is buried. [email protected] wrote:This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. 2. Chuck of Michigan and list, I just returned from a trip to Ohio and I was mortified at the neglect of some of the old cemeteries. I have been active in cemetery restoration in Morgan and Cole counties in Missouri . Missouri is great when you contrast those two counties. I had not visited for twenty years and some stones were vanalized and not repaired and housing was built right up to the edge of the cemetery. Stones were almost in peoples back yards. Not a good idea at all. I am appalled that the good people in Ohio would disrespect their ancestors like that. Bonnie Morris Conrad

I just wish there was some one IN Grundy county that was willing to deal with this problem . I live in Mn. Loretta

One possible source for workers to do this work might be some colleges in the area or high schools that encourage and even organize community services projects for their students.
