Ciry Cemetery and Sacred Heart Cemetery are neighbors in Valley Park at least this was so in 1976 when my daughter and her Girl Scout group cleaned it up Boy Scouts were next door in Sacred Heart cleaning it up..I do not know if this tradition is still being done but those kids did a good job then. I'm not sure - this information is a bit dated: "Sacred Heart is the name of the Catholic side of this cemetery. The other 'City' side might have a different name." http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=38.55389&lon=-90.49917&datum=NAD27&s=50&size=l Mike On 31 Dec 2005, [email protected] wrote: >Is there still a City of Valley Park Cemetery or was it taken over by the church and is >now Sacred Heart Cemetery?

Hi, Those you search for may well have tombstones as many cemeteries, probably most cemeteries, do not have the names recorded by anyone. Also some listings are quite old. I listed a cemetery which had 1600 names, a listing done in 1930s listed less than 200 names. There are many small family cemeteries lost in the passage of time. When the road that passes by a cemetery is abandoned, the cemetery usually goes down rapidly. I would suggest you go to the Historical Society in the county and look in the old atlases for the names you mentioned. If you find where they lived, they may well have been buried on their land. Good Luck. Paul

Due to the nature of the acquisition we did not receive a complete set of records for the cemetery. The SLDC, with the assistance of the St. Louis Genealogical Society, have been able to assemble a 90% complete collection of records. The missing 10% of the records are located specifically in the Old Side (see map) of the cemetery, in Blocks Two and Four. These graves are made up of single grave pauper burials. They have no markers or surviving caskets, and the records give no information as to how they are organized. The completed portion of the records have been entered into a database, which was created by cross referencing many sources. By consulting the Logbooks, Map Books, Lot Owner Books, Lot Cards, and Deed Books we have an accurate record of the cemetery. The database records have been sent to the St. Louis Genealogical society. All of the cemetery records have been microfilmed with the assistance of a state funded grant. Copies of the microfilm will hopefully appear in the agencies listed below in the future. If you are unable to find the information you are seeking on the cemetery, please feel free to contact the SLDC by using the contact link. Many rural cemeteries do not have phone numbers to call. Almost all of the cemeteries that I research do not have a point of contact listed. You might try looking at this page... http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Emoray/cemeteries.htm#Anchor-56380... And contacting someone from that county. If I lived closer, I would check the cemetery for you myself. Researching cemeteries brings a peace of mind that I can't find elsewhere. Good luck with your research. -----Original Message----- From: Jackie Whedbee [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, December 22, 2005 3:52 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [MO-CEM] Teegarden Cemetery I am seeking information on the Teegarden Cemetary, Ray Co., Missouri I cannot find a phone number for them. I will try to get back with you when I run across them. Feel free to contact me at any time. The fact that the original list doesn't provide the section & lot numbers is the reason I started working on this. It's a good size cemetery and some of the early graves go back to about 1866. Understandably, some of the stones are unreadable. Becki
