Hey, howdy.... It's a beautiful day in the Ozarks! The dogwoods and redbud aren't quite blooming everywhere just yet, but the weather has turned into spring with muggy days and nights--it's time to take the extra blanket off the bed. <BG> Well, Ingrid and I have not, I repeat, NOT grabbed any men off the street to come be in the Bald Knobber Re-enactment. We've slowly but surely gotten most of the parts for the play filled. Just a reminder (and an update for those of you who are new), "Law Day 2001: Outlaw Roundup" is taking place 19 May in Shadow Rock Park at Forsyth, MO, starting at 9 am. The play will begin about 1:30 or so that afternoon. This thing is going to be so big--not to mention fun (if I can just get all the details lined out, and start my door-knockin' campaign for donations...LOL) As if I don't have enough to do, all of a sudden, I got hot on some stuff, especially in the Jennings/Casey families of the Forsyth area. If you get out your MO map, and look for Taney County, you'll note a large creek coming into Taney from Christian County, called Bull Creek. Seems the majority of the Bald Knobbers, in a line running North-South along Bull Creek down to AR--I've not determined the width just yet, but parts of Swan Creek would be in this "belt"--the majority of the Bald Knobbers lived in that region. Not all, and not all folks who lived there were BK. But the statistics seem pretty amazin'. Then we got some folks--mostly BK descendants, but not all, and not a bunch of folks--who don't seem to think we should have a play on the BK. I guess they don't see it as a tribute to rough times that happened in the White River Valley; some of them think we're being disrespectful. Since we did our best to remain neutral on the side-takin' (you wouldn't believe how many folks do still take sides), and show both sides of the story, those doubtin' Thomases are just going to have to see the play to believe it. There's always a naysayer in every crowd of "yee-haws!" I suppose. Greg has added some stuff concerning Outlaw Roundup to our business website. Go to http://www.copper-turtle.com and click on White River Valley. There's not a lot there, but it's more than I've had time to do. The server was down some last week, but seems to doing fine now. Well... I ain't got any enlightenin' stuff, really, and I'm all dressed up to go out door-knocking...you know, women can wear cowboy boots with just about anything, too. LOL Have A Great Week! Oh, and if you don't find sitcoms particularly interesting--I'm not much of a TV watcher myself--ever so often, you get a jewel comin' through. One episode of "3rd Rock From the Sun" has Dick receiving an invitation from a Solomon family to a family reunion. Seems that Dick's supposed father (remember, he's an alien) broke ties with the family. When asked why he wants to go to the reunion, he said, "Life here is not just where we're going, but where we come from." That is so true!
