    3. Hi all. I have heard that there is mention of all those involved in the Bald Knobbers in some books that are out there. I was wondering if any of you who have researched the Bald Knobbers had access to any of those books that might deal with the Bald Knobbers in Christian County. I have heard that there are Hiles and McDaniels mentioned in one of those books, was wondering if someone could do a lookup for me if at all possible or at least tell me where I could find a book for check-out or purchase. It makes sense to me that some of my ancestors would have been involved since 2 of those in Christian County that were hung in 1889(Dave Walker and his son William Walker) were related to me...Mrs. Dave Walker--Sarah Shipman--was my ggggrandmother's sister. Those names I am mostly interested in, but any that could be related would be great too, are: Andrew Hiles, William McDaniel, Andrew McDaniel, George McDaniel, also any other Walkers or Shipmans. If anyone knows any ancestral information on the above mentioned Dave "Bull Creek" Walker I would appreciate it also...he is probably related to my ggggrandmother CAtherine Walker-Hiles, wife of Andrew Hiles, mother of Elizabeth Hiles-McDaniel. Thier family lived next door to DAve's parent's home. She had the same last name, and was born in Kentucky as was Dave and his siblings...but she was not his sister. That is one of my brick walls right now...greatly appreciate any help that anyone could dig up. Have a great week! :-) Kim _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

    3. There are several sources on Bald Knobbers. A Living History of the Ozarks by Phyllis Rossiter outlines basic details. Also The Land of Taney is an excellent resource for Ozark Geneologist. Written by Elmo Ingenthron, it has numerous lists and is heavily footnoted. It contains Taney county officials from 1837 to 1974, incomplete 1840 census, Civil and foriegn war Veterans up through WWII, Post offfice, schools and teachers and names of newspapers in the county. Both of these resources are available in most libraries. Over the years OzarksWatch magazine and Ozarks Mountaineer magazine have done articles on the Bald Knobbers. Both of those books may still be available at the Ozark Mountaineer bookstore down in Taney County. Usually Public libraries in Southwest Missouri and Northern Ark will carry those in periodicals. Try Springfield library site http://thelibrary.springfield.missouri.org.
