    2. To All that has responded and all that are researching, Thanks and I found this obit. When I read it, I copied it. But wasn't sure how Dock fit into the Lieuallen plan. So I like to ask questions first and get it clear with myself before I spring it on the rest of you all. But now I got it. Thanks again to all. Bertha Isgrig of Bourbon passed away on Monday, June 5, 2000 at the age of90 years.Mrs. Isgrig was born on February 26, 1910 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to thelate Dock and Elsie (McGowan) Lieuallen. At a young age, Bertha and herfamily moved to Hollister, Mo. where she was raised. On November 15, 1941she was married to Glen Isgrig in Harrison, Arkansas, and to this union oneson was born. The newlyweds then moved to Bourbon, Mo. where Bertha haslived the remaining years of her life. Her primary vocation has been thatof a devoted wife, loving mother, and homemaker. She especially enjoyedtaking care of her home, and also found fulfillment as a very active memberof the Sullivan Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for over forty years. Those who knew her best describe Bertha as a quiet, gentle woman whotreated others with much kindness and consideration. She is survived by one son, Stanley Isgrig, and his fiancee, Debra Parnell,of Bourbon; four sisters, Virginia Petett of Kansas City, Mo., ClediaMattox of Sullivan, Vera Ramsey of Batesville, Mississippi, and LouiseAnderson of Ozark, Mo.; five step-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. 3. Good Idea! Here's mine too: MCDANIEL>Greene/Christian and Howell counties, MO; Craighead County, Ark; Tenn; and Randolph County, NC. HORN>Tenn, possibly related to those in Greene/Christian County, MO JOHNSON>Greene/Christian and Howell Counties, MO WALKER>Greene/Christian Counties, MO HILES (Hales?)>Christian County, MO SHIPMAN>Greene/Christian County GARRISON>Greene/Christian County NASH>Christian County (from Kentucky) BROWN>Christian County (from Kentucky) I think thats all! lol John F. McDaniel (b 1765) may have been cousin or uncle to Samuel A. McDaniel and was father to Samuel R. McDaniel (b 1813). His descendents are in Christian County, MO, Howell County, MO and Craighead County, Ark. He apparantly lived in all three places. He was born in Randolph Couny, NC and lived in Tenn before moving to the Ozarks. He was first married to Mary Horn (mother of John and Samuel), then after her death he married Mary Reeves-Thomas (a widow) and had more children, most of whom settled in Ark. He may have married another woman named Mary after Mary #2's death. (He sort of liked Marys I think! lol). John F.'s son Samuel R. McDaniel was married to Elizabeth Walker who may or may not have been daugther of David Walker and Maragarat Pendleton. (We have also found that she was daughter of a William and Nancy Walker, but no proof to either claim.) They were in 1850 Greene County census, but Samuel must have died and Elizabeth moved to Howell County and remarried after that. Samuel and Elizabeth's son William McDaniel either stayed in Christian County or moved back from Howell County. He married Matilda Jane Shipman (daughter of Abraham Shipman and Esther Garrison). Matilda's sister Sarah was married to Dave "Bull Creek" Walker of the Bald Knobbers. William and Matilda's son Andrew married Elizabeth (Lizzie) Hiles (daughter of Andrew Hiles and Catherine Walker). Two of Lizzie's sisters married Johnsons. I have had trouble finding Andrew Hiles' lineage, all Iknow is he came from Tenn. Catherine may be related to Dave "Bull Creek" Walker, but I don't know how. She was from Kentucky as he was, and she and Andrew lived next door to Dave's parents. She was a few years older than Dave. Also living with her was a Margarat Walker in 1860 who was 3 years younger than her and may have been her sister. Andrew and Elizabeth's son William Jasper McDaniel (b 1894) married Iva Pearl Brown and moved to the area near Independence, Montgomery County, Kansas where Iva's father and siblings lived. Iva's father was John William Brown from Kentucky and her mother was Pulaska Jane Nash from Kentucky also, but they were married in Christian County in 1891 and there were relatives living there that Iva stayed with after her mother died in 1910-1914. She met and married William Jasper McDaniel while staying with her relatives. William Jasper and Iva McDaniel are my ggrandparents. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

    3. Dear Pama, PLEASE be assured you are NOT driving any of us nuts with any of the questions you ask as they definitely are NOT silly questions, but if they are then I too fall in the same category as you as I've also wondered which of the LEWALLEN/LIEUALLEN families that Dock comes from. There is a record of marriage 9 Sept 1907 in Taney County for D. M. LEWALLEN and Elsie McGOWN (probably McGowen or McGower). Both Dock & Elsie are buried in Gobblers Knob Cemetery, Taney Co. and the data shown in Janice Looney's Volume 6 shows a joint tombstone that reads: LIEUALLEN, Dock M. 1881-1949 Elsie C. 1887-1977 The only LEWALLEN/LIEUALLEN male born in 1881 that I can find in Taney County records was Henry LEWALLEN b.Dec 1881 who was a son of Robert LEWALLEN and Martha Angeline DAVIS, Martha being a daughter of William DAVIS & Elizabeth HARP. I don't have any further information on Henry as he doesn't seem to show up in any of the Taney County marriage indexes that I have. Some of my LEWALLEN data may have come from you originally, Pama, but I can't recall just who or what the source was since I lost all genealogical notes in my computer when the hard disk crashed early last year. Do you think Dock and Henry could be the same person????? Incidentally, you mentioned in another message about being a little under the weather, Pama, so am hoping you have recovered and are again feeling spunky. 3. K T , do you know of any other siblings for Samuel R. McDaniel , son of John F. ? I am looking for the family of Jos. or Jehu McDaniel/ McDonald b. ca. 1816 NC and a Joshua McDaniel/ McDonald b. ca. 1815 NC , they are both on the 1860 Stone Co., Mo. census as McDaniels . Jos. (my g.g.grandfather) was killed by Bushwackers and his family migrated to Hickory Co. ca. 1865. Joshua may have went to Jasper Co. about the same time . Other surnames that were connected to this family were : Parmers/Palmers , Dennis, Wells, VanDivers and Rodden ! I have yet to connect them to any known McDaniels or McDonalds, in either Mo. or NC, so I have a tendency to ask everyone researching these names if they've heard of them ! 3. Hello, Anyone else with access to the 1920 on-line census? I noticed they loaded up Taney and Stone counties, but I can't find Reed Springs, Stone County. Ruth Twp. is there, but not Reed Springs. Also not sure if Taney County is complete either. I can't seem to locate anyone I'm looking for. It's a pain to use since it's not indexed, but if you know where your folks are - it's great! Diana

    1. Re: [MO-AR-WRV] Lieuallen or Lewallen
    2. In a message dated 1/15/01 10:31:18 PM Central Standard Time, DGHOUK@email.kline.co.jp writes: << Some of my LEWALLEN data may have come from you originally, Pama >> Hi All! I've obviously missed out on part of this Lewallen discussion! Now, I'll go back and read it all! You all don't happen to have a Jim or James Lewallen in anyone's data do you? I really don't know what profession he was in maybe a lawyer, or as some said maybe a doctor that wanted to retire. Supposedly he came to Calico Rock, Izard Co., AR on the White River (downstream) with a railroad box car full of furnishing (the story goes). I am not sure that Jim or James had ever married but came to Calico alone as far as I can gather. He obviously had made plenty of money wherever he was from. Supposedly it was some big city, that takes in a lot considering the size of Calico especially in the 1920-30s. Anyway, the reason for my interest in this individual (as far as I know our families were not related in any way) but he adopted the son of the brother of my grandfather Herbert Addison Peck s/o William Addison Peck and Mary LuElla Remley Peck, who came to Calico and AR from WV, around Summersville where the Remley clan lived. (Peck was born in Fincastle, Botetourt Co., VA on the old family tobacco farm the best I can tell so far) The young man that Jim (or James) Lewallen adopted was named Buck and was the son of a woman named Esray ? who later married a ??Jones (I believe) At least she is chosen in the 1910 Census in Stone County, AR-town of Mtn View listed with Buck who she shows as Peck and another son, Doyle Jones. What year the adoption took place, I'm not sure and haven't found yet but obviously Buck lived in a house with tons of transplanted nice things, nice Victorian furnishings--particularly a lovely grand piano (which I can remember being used in the 1950s in Calico Rock Public Schools for music class!) I have to think that Jim (or James) Lewallen died in the late 1930s or early 1940s. I remember family stories about my grandfather's sister (Ruth Lindsey's) husband Bert trying to convince Buck Lewallen that he needed to watch after his investments. Obviously, there was some land that went along with the house and the furnishings when Jim died all of that inheritance had gone to Buck. Unfortunately, he wasn't interested and ended up living most of his adult years that I know of, living in a little one room cabin on the property of Aunt Ruth and Uncle Bert Lindsey and working with some of their children in the timber and log cutting business. I do remember going to Buck's funeral, probably in the early 1960s. When Buck got back from military service, he gave his travel trunk to my grandfather Herbert Peck. I will look to see but I believe the name was spelled differently--possible Llwyllen and simply with the initial B. (I will check this to be certain about the spelling) But this has always been one of those stories I wish I had listened better to as a child when grown-ups were talking. Does anyone have a Jim (or James) in their data base who might fit this? Any information is appreciated and would be very helpful! Beth Peck Cooper

    3. Jerry, I have seen lots of Tillmans in my research...I know some Tillmans, so the name stood out to me. Try looking in Christian and Greene Counties. I didn't write down anymore than the head of household (was just getting names of those that lived around my kinfolk), but Samuel Tillman,49, m, born in MO was in house 881 in Finley Township, Greene County, MO 1850 census. This Finley Township is Christian County in 1860 and thereafter.
