    3. Hey Pama, Turns out my cousin misunderstood her mother, and my gggrandma (Pulaska Nash) wasn't from Kentucky...it was her husband who was. So she must be from the Christian County area or somewhere nearby. Here is her info again...Pulaska Jane Nash, born maybe early 1870's, married John William Brown 1891, had several children, my ggrandma Iva Pearl born in 1897, they lived in Montgomery County, Kansas, near Independence. She died in or shortly after child birth when my ggrandma was 14...so it was around 1911. Couldn't find them on the 1900 Mont. County census, although they should be on it. Didn't get through the 1910 census. Thats about what I have on her! :-) Kim >From: Xmeemawx@aol.com >Reply-To: MO-AR-WRV-L@rootsweb.com >To: MO-AR-WRV-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [MO-AR-WRV] Nash info >Date: Sun, 28 Jan 2001 19:30:59 EST > >Heddddoooooooo there list, >Well, would like to thank everyone for there response on my Nash info. 3. What kind of membership types are you looking at? FM would be full member. PM would be prepatory member. AM = Associate member (but you probably won't see many of those.) Excluded might mean being voted out for being a "sinner", which is kinda like saying. "you can't come in the barn because you're a cow." Dismissed by letter could have been just somebody who had been REALLY inactive (like since birth!)or it could have been a transfer to a church in another location. Does any of that fit with what you're seeing? 3. Thank you Pama! Hadn't seen this - must not visit often enough! Found my Mooney's which leads me to ask more questions. Anyone have any Mooney's in their line? Tracking the family of Christopher Mooney and Susan Reed Mooney, b. around 1830 . OH>IN>IL>MO 2 known children; Sarah Mooney Wallace (Elisha), b.1852 (death certificate says 1848??) in OH and Christopher John Mooney, b. 1858 IL. Found children (Sarah (8) & Christopher John(2)) in 1860 Taney county census living with an Elizabeth Mooney, age 45?? (who is Elizabeth - must be family of Christopher Sr.'s) 2 other children; Elizabeth, age 12 and Jacob, age 14 . No adult males and no Susan?? (Sarah & Christophers mother). Place of birth for all is listed as unknown? Found Susan, age 40, with the children (Sarah & Christopher John) in 1870 Taney county (No Christopher Sr). This confirms that at some point, either while in IL or shortly after moving to MO Christopher Sr. is no longer around. Sarah moved to KC area in 1920's. Don't know where Christopher John went. May have went by John. Grandma called him Uncle John. Does anyone have a clue, I sure don't. 3. Can't help ya, Pama, but can I add to your list of STUBBORN Nashes? lol :-) 1. Pulaska Jane Nash, born in Kentucky (according to her granddaughter), but had "kinfolk" in Christian County, MO. Married John William Brown in Christian County in 1891. Moved to Montgomery County, KS. Died in childbirth 1910-14. Her daughter, Iva Pearl Brown, came back to Christian County from Kansas after her mother's death to live with relatives. Met and married William Jasper McDaniel (son of Andrew McDaniel and Elizbeth Hiles) in 1914 and moved back to Kansas. Was "very religious" and perhaps attended a holiness church. 2. Pulaski Simmons who married Wiley Nash in Crawford County, MO in 1850's. I know this isn't WRV, but I think its a possible link to my Pulaska. :-) Kim >From: Xmeemawx@aol.com Reply-To: MO-AR-WRV-L@rootsweb.com To: >MO-AR-WRV-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MO-AR-WRV] Nash Date: Wed, 24 Jan 2001 >18:16:47 EST > >Ok now group, ::heehee:: Tis the ole bat again out on the prowl itchin for >some gossip on any Nashes. 3. Do you know if he fought at Wilson's Creek? They have a great archive and may well be able to answer some of your questions if he did. If not Wilson's Creek, do you know if he was in combat anywhere? Where is he buried? Forsyth is and was the county seat of Taney County. At the outbreak of the civil war Confederates seized Forsyth and they turned the court house into headquarters. On July 22, 1861 Brigadier General T. W. Sweeney and 1200 union troops marched on Forysth and a skimish ensued. The rebels were driven out. As soon as the Union troops left, the rebels moved back into forsyth. Three weeks latter the Union army was defeated at the Battle of Wilson Creek. The rebels remained in forysth unil April 10, 1982 when Major General Sam R. Curtis and the advanced guard of his Union Army arrived in town. After a short time Curtis and his troops left for Batesville Ark. The Rebels promptly return to Forsyth. Despite several skrimishes the courthouse remained intact until the sping of 1863. At that time, after the Prairie Grove battle the Union troops returned to Forsyth where they fortified the Court House. When they left on April 22, 1863 they burned the town including the court house to keep it from falling into rebel hands again. For many years after that there was great contention in the area between residents because of the number of Confederate veterns who returned to their homes in Taney County. I haven't seen the site you are looking for, but maybe some Taney County Civil War History might help you. I will also send you the history site from Springfield Library web page, that I believe may have some information on the Civil War Skrimish in downtown Springfield. 3. Jerry, If he was still alive in 1890, then you might try looking at the 1890 enumeration of civil war vets. I found my gggrandfather in it. It has all the info you mentioned. Part of this was destroyed by fire along with the 1890 census, but about half of it was rescued and the saved part seems to include most of Missouri. You would need to look at the area where he lived in 1890, not where he was when he enlisted. :-) Kim >From: "Gerald Johnston" <gerald.h.johnston@worldnet.att.net> >Reply-To: MO-AR-WRV-L@rootsweb.com >To: MO-AR-WRV-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [MO-AR-WRV] Civil War Information >Date: Tue, 23 Jan 2001 05:08:43 -0700 > >Somewhere; in the not too distant past, yet I do not remember where, I >found >a list of local Civil War soldiers that included my >great-great-grandfather, >Thomas J. Mitchell. It listed him as having enlisted, I believe in Taney Co., as a bugle boy. Now, I am trying to find out what company, etc., for ordering information about his war record. I want to have a GAR stone placed at his grave, or marker of some kind, etc. Any ideas on where to find this information, etc.; or where I might have seen it? Thanks!
