Howdy! With Rootsweb being down over the weekend, I guess the servers still aren't "up to snuff," so to speak, for a while yet. I've not visited the websites to see if they are running, but no one's been yelling, so I suppose they are... With all the snow we had in December, and the rain we've had since--hallejuah! (hear the Tabernacle choir singing?)--Bull Shoals Lake is actually starting to resemble a lake again. Before the storms that came through on Saturday, the reports were that the levels were only 7 feet below normal; Greg and I were over in Forsyth last night, and while she ain't deep, the Bull is showing water from bank to bank at the E 76 bridge. Although I've been assured that there is no way we could get enough rain to flood out Shadow Rock Park in May, I'm a worrywort...I'm visiting the Corps of Engineers sometime this week to find out what their predictions are. Auditions for "The League: Taney County Justice" are being held this Saturday, 3 March, at the Old Taney County Jail in Forsyth. Starting time is 2 pm. Things are continuing to move in other preparations for "Law Day 2001: Outlaw Roundup", the main fundraiser for the White River Valley Historical Society's jail restoration effort. For more information, you can email me. My own genealogy research is stalled out, but I've met a new double cousin in the past couple of weeks that I'm anxious to get some more information from. I'll let you know when I do find some stuff. Those of you trying to figure out the "2005" date at the Cupp Cemetery...I've been told that the lady simply wasn't planning to die until that date. As far as I know, she is still alive. This Saturday is also the date for Renshaw Cemetery Cleanup, on Boys Camp Road in Rockaway Beach. Folks tend to meet there about 9 am. Last month, we had a weiner roast, but due to auditions, I'm not sure we're going to be able to go this time. Saturday night, 6 pm, there is a potluck and "pickin' 'n singin'" going on at Boston Center. That starts at 6 pm, and they were still running strong when Greg and I left last month at 10:30. My grandmother, who celebrated her 86th birthday this month, got up and danced at the last one. (Daddy egged her on, but she did it anyway...) Y'all have a fine week! I don't know why I hadn't subscribed to this list before-I think I thought I did, but then (as my grandma Dorothy used to say) "my train of thought got derailed". My ancestors came to MO in the 1830's and then AR. Settled in Springfield, Nixa, and eventually Mountain Home AR Jonathan Reno (my 5th great grandpa) came to Greene Co to escape the "smoke from other people's chimneys". He was stabbed to death in 1838, helping clear out some rowdies from a friend's store. Avenant Hollingsworth (my 4th great grandpa) came to Greene Co in the late 1830s and became a Sheriff and Marshal. He had married Mary "Polly Ann" Reno (Jonathan's daughter). In a terrible coincidence, he was stabbed to death in 1870 trying to help a drunk out of ditch near Springfield. Mary lost both her father and her husband as stabbing victims. Their son Harbin died as a result of injuries received in the Civil War, leaving two young sons, James Alva and John Walker Hollingsworth. James (my gg) was a Sheriff in Baxter Co AR when it was known as "Bloody Baxter". James married Missouri Tennessee West (their mothers were sisters, both daughters of James Harvey Reese, who had also come from TN to MO in the early 1830s). Their son Herbert John Hollingsworth married Ella Mae Kent in Mountain Home AR in 1908. Ella's mother Hannah Frances "Fanny" Arnold Kent died in Gassville in 1934-I'd love to find the cemetery where she's buried! The point of all this is to introduce myself - proud to be descended from the folks of the White River Valley. Anybody else researching Hollingsworth, West, Reese, Reno, or Kent from this area? GENEALOGICAL TREASURES FOUND o I was given a photo of Floyd TITSWORTH by his brother Robert TITSWORTH, both were sons of James and Charity Wood TITSWORTH. I would like to share with a relative of Floyd. Floyd was a twin born 18 March 1893 in Indian Territory, now Texas and Oklahoma. The other twin, Boyd, died and also his mother died in the Territory. I am related to him through his brother, James Alfred TITSWORTH. No date is on this very nice photo, but Floyd is pictured as a young man, dressed in a suit with a high color and bow tie. Sorry if this came thru twice. Didn't see it come back to me so I thought I would send again. Hello again there list, Just ole me bugging you all again! LOL Hoping someone can help. Here we go: In the 1910 Stone County Census it shows: 1068 147 REASE WILLIAM HEAD 39 TN MYRTLE M WIFE 20 MO VERIA L DAU 3 MO DESSIE DAU 2 MO LUTHER SON 1\12 MO They were married in Christian County in 1904. Myrtle (Tittsworth) was born abt 1990 in MO and was only about 14 when she got married, also, has the middle name that starts with M. If the records show right dates. I am thinking that she just might belong to William David Tittsworth and Martha Jane Gideon maybe their granddaughter. I haven't got the children of their (Martha and William) children down yet. This would be the 3rd generation of Martha and William. Is there anyone out there that would happen to know the names of Thomas Judan's or Albert G. Tittsworth. I have got Elzy and Nannie's. I have got new info from Brenda (Thank You Very Much, Brenda) at the Christian County rootsweb site. On the 1910 Christian County Census. Here is the information that I have received. Jerry, Welp, I hunted and snooped everywhere I could think of. Nuthin. Still I will continue to look for this woman. Has really got me stumped now also.::LOL:: Now I am sssssssssoooooooo curious. Also, in the information that I sent over the Internet that read as follows: >Noel B. Tittsworth b. 1910 d. 1989 buried in Cupps Cemetery. Believe his wife's name is Mary K. has a birth date of 1911 but death date wasn't there or they could read it.< I went to Cupp's cemetery on Monday and read it for myself. Here is what it said on the wife's side. Mary K. b 1911-d 2005. Now isn't that weird? Just now 2001 and she has a death date of 2005. Welp, anyway, thought I would let you know I haven't forgot you. for friends researching mining communities and miners in southwest Missouri: I just finished reading "Images of America Southwest Missouri Mining." this is a great resource for searchers of mining families in southwest MO. I live only about an hour away from Ft. Wayne IN library. They are the second largest Genealogy Library in the country. Second only to Salt Lake City. I go often. They have tons and tons of material for research which includes all parts of the country. They have all census on microfilm for the entire country, and thousands of other materials. I have decided to offer to do look-ups and offer some assistance for a small fee to help me with the cost of fuel, parking, lunch, etc. I figure I will only charge for what I am able to find and copy for each individual. Let me know if you are interested in any look-ups from there. Please respond to me directly at scottaw68@hotmail.com please put in the subject line LOOK UP. Guess I should have included in last e-mail. (SORRY) I have a copy of the Eisenhour Cmt. (Located 3 5/10 miles south of Spokane, MO. Christian County on highway 160). If any of you might think that your ancestors are buried there, just send their names and I will check for you. Pama
I believe it was Robin that wanted me to look up the Costellow/Costlow name but I have evidently deleted the message. So don't know her e-mail. Please e-mail me back the info that you were wanting to know. I have some but hardly anything on this line yet. Shall go back to library soon. Although I think I got everyone except for this one if I have forgotten any of you that sent me an e-mail. Please send again. Shall do my best. Warmest Smiles, Pama

I am just now reading this, would your Day family or the Moore family-----Perhaps lived in Douglas or Ozark Counties, MO ----------or------------possibly Howell or Oregon Counties, MO? I'm a descendant of Minnie Katherine Moore Brashear of Howell and Oregon Cos, MO whose parents married in TN----but I haven't been able to track them much in MO. The interest in the Day family, one of my grandfather Cecil Loyde Brashear's wives was Lela Mae Manda Day, whose parents I do not have names of ! But the interesting twist to this is that supposedly Lela's Mother had an older son named Cliff Day who is actually the son of my relative, Will Johnson who was brother to my g gf John A. Johnson, whose parents were John Daniel Johnson (Danish) and Caroline (?Castline or ?Casterline) Phillips Johnson. Would you happen to be connected to this group? Thanks! Beth Peck Cooper

Never Fear, Your ListMom is here... I've just been super-busy, and haven't been checking my mail on anything like a regular basis. We held a meeting a week ago Tuesday at Una's in Branson; while turnout seemed to be limited to folks we'd actually talked to in recent times (and not nearly all of them), results were great...folks connected, discussed various restoration and "kinship" projects, and promised to help us out for "Outlaw Roundup." So we scheduled two more meetings, to be held: 13 Feb (next Tue) at the Old Taney County Jail, at 6 pm. 20 Feb (the following Tue) at Una's on W Hwy 76 in Branson, at 6 pm. We will be using the same project boards--Ingrid, Rick, and I ended up with about 8 or 9 boards, with newspaper articles, pictures, artwork, and thought-provoking grafitti--we used those tri-fold science project boards, and some 4' square foam boards, so they were BIG! I also had a collection of history- and family-related quotes that I put on bright paper, like Horowitz, Lingbergh, and more (there were 20), that we taped up on walls. All this stuff will be used again and again until we get the results we need, both for "Outlaw Roundup" and for preservation of our history and culture in the White River Valley. I've been negotiating deals with Coca-Cola for soda pop, the Forsyth Lions' Club for food, musicians for playing, liability insurance, and other sundry individuals and organizations to make Roundup a success. Lest I forget--again LOL--that "Outlaw Roundup" is a benefit--with free admission, no less--to raise funds for restoration of the Old Taney County Jail... Table Rock Asphalt Construction came through Monday with 3 yards of concrete for the new sidewalk at the jail. This amounts to some $225 in free concrete. Today, a concrete finisher that Jo Stacey Albers and I met with on Tuesday at the jail called with a bid for the work. This involves putting down 6 inches of sand for a cushion on the majority of the old sidewalk, digging out the steps and sidewalk (nearly 100 year old concrete) on the south side of the building, and pouring and finishing the new sidewalk so that water will drain away from the building. The contractor, Don Madson, came in with a bid of $300. I expected it to be 3x that amount, so that was a thrill! In between all this, I've met with Forsyth's city administrator, been in touch with various people over old pictures and building restoration projects, doing fine-tuning on the Bald Knobber play with Ingrid and Rick, gallivanting to various places to check on sites for various activities and the Legacy Trail, been in touch with newspaper reporters and editors, and kinda-sorta making plans for White River Valley Homecoming (which is happening 25-28 Oct, 2001, in Forsyth! Make your plans to come!). I've got to find a band/musicians to close out Outlaw Roundup (Big Smith will be unavailable that day, unfortunately...) We are road-tripping to Joplin next Wednesday to meet with the council of the White River Band of Cherokee, to invite them to join us for Homecoming. That in itself is so exciting, I can't stand it...LOL I still haven't been out to get any donations (but I sure hit up every business/restauarant/you name it I go into). And there are still the outlaw exhibits to get started on building. That ain't everything, but you get the picture. And my kids still made at least the B Honor Roll, and Greg doesn't feel TOO neglected. I even manage some sleep every night...<BG> But I haven't done any new genealogy research, and I kinda miss it sometimes. I hope y'all who can come make it to Outlaw Roundup on May 19, and to Homecoming in October. We are going to have a blast! Don't worry, I'm doing fine, just don't get to yak much these days... Pama and Barb and all you others, thanks for your concern. On another note, my sister has been home from the hospital for a week now (after open-heart surgery 23 Jan), and she is recuperating well. Thanks for your prayers in that direction, too! Vonda W S ListMom for MOTaney and MO-AR-WRV http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~moarwrv/ http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gregvonda/
