MURRAY (Republican), Representative from Morgan County; born April 9, 1885, at Evansville, Ind.; educated in the public schools and business college at Evansville. On June 29, 1927, he married Miss BERTHA I. LITSCHGI of Evansville, at Henderson, Ky. Three children were born to them, ROBERT J. Jr., and Mrs. BERTHA ELIZABETH DAVIS, and OLIVER FRANCIS, who died in infancy. He is a merchant and resides in Florence, Mo. Served six years in the Indiana National Guard; was Commissioner of Finance and Revenue in Arkansas City, Kans., four years; was a member of the Kansas Legislature in 1921; was Deputy State Oil Inspector of Kansas from 1922 to 1926; and was in charge of the Department of Health of Arkansas City. Was elected to the House of Representatives in 1936 and re-elected in 1938, serving in the 60th General Assembly on the following committees: Agriculture; Constitutional Amendments; Eleemosynary Institutions; Fish and Game; Roads and Highways; State Teachers Colleges.
