[Picture] 1884- Dr. HARMON's house is the present home of the Max NEIL family. [Picture] 1890- Ellen and Thomas DAVIS operated a mill on a farm that is now (1969) owned by George William TUNKS, Jr. 1890- Fairport Sorghum Mill, located on what is now the Junior TUNKS farm. Run by Ellen & Thomas DAVIS. Operated about 1890-1915. (Frank DAVIS is the man on the far right, next to the women.) [Picture] 1891- Mr and Mrs. John CALDWELL were the owners of the Fairport Hotel. [Picture] 1894- Post office at Fairport started. One of the first postmasters was C.D. McCREA. 1895- Hardware and Implement Company started by John KENNEDY and Delaney SHERARD. 1895- Myrtle ROSS started a millinery shop. 1896- James OLDRIDGE & Melford DENNY had a butcher shop and a hide-buying station. 1897- The "Fairport Advertiser" was started. It was the first newspaper in town. 1898- Cyclone struck! Everything was destroyed. The wife and three of the four children of the Calvin SMITH family were killed. Johnnie HOSKIN is the grandson. 1898- H.A. LAW returned from a tour down in Indian Territory in January. The telephone lines were completed. 1899- Fairport school was rebuilt. 1899- The hotel was operated by A.T. ESTES. Eva ESTES, d/o A.T. ESTES, was the first long distance operator. Central office was in the hotel. HOLLOWAY, of lawful age, being duly sworn, on oath states, that he is a resident of the County and State aforesaid that he was well acquainted with James BUFFINGTON and his sons Addison J. and Wm C. BUFFINGTON; that Addison J. and A.J. BUFFINGTON were one and the same person; that Addison J. BUFFINGTON died about the year 1863; that he left as his widow, Edna BUFFINGTON, who departed this life about 30 years ago; that at the date of the execution of the deed recorded in deed records of Carroll County, MO at Book K, Page 575, viz 22 April 1856, William C.
