RAINWATER (Republican), Representative from Polk County; born in Camden County, Mo., October 22, 1890. His father, A. B. Rainwater, was a Civil War veteran, serving with the 45th and 48th Missouri Volunteers. He is a graduate of the following schools; the rural schools of Camden County; Westport high school, Kansas City, Mo.; Junior college, Kansas City; William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo.; and Kansas Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, Kansas. On October 25, 1913, he was married at Kansas City, Mo., to Miss ELLA MAY WALTERS. They have three children, H. IVAN, CHARLES WENDELL and MARIAN LOUISE. An ordained minister, he resides at Bolivar, Mo. He is Past President of the Alumni Association of the Kansas Baptist Theological Seminary, of the Kansas City Baaptist Ministerial Alliance and of the Baptist Hill Assembly of Lawrence County. Formerly he was Moderator of the Polk County Baptist Association. He was committeeman of Washington Township, Jackson County, two terms. Appointed in 1938 as a member of the Statute Revision Commission, he served in the third group. First elected to the House of Representatives in 1934, he was re-elected in 1936 and again in 1938, serving in the 60th General Assembly as a member of the following committees: Children's Code; Elections; Insurance; Revision; Social Security and Old Age Assistance; Ways and Means.
