FREELAND (Republican), Senator from the Nineteenth District; born in Howard City, Kans., January 5, 1879; educated in the public schools of Shelby County, Mo. He married Miss MINNE E. FREELAND in Vernon, Texas, August 7, 1902. Resides at Forsyth, Mo., where he publishes the Taney County Republican and is engaged in farming. He served as President of the Ozark Press Association in 1925 and 1926. Represented Taney County in the House of Representatives in the 52nd, 53rd, 54th, 55th, 56th and 57th General Assemblies, being majority floor leader in the 55th General Assembly and Republican nominee for Speaker in the 56th General Assembly. He served as a member of the Statute Revision Commission of 1929. Elected to the Missouri Senate in 1936, he served in the 59th and 60th General Assemblies, being a member of the following committees of the latter session: Commerce and Manufactories; County Courts, Justice of the Peace and Township Organization; Education; Agriculture; Fish and Game.
