ALLISON (Democrat), Senator rrom the Twenty-fourth District; born January 18, 1894, on a farm in Marion County, Mo.; educated in the public schools and Central Missouri State Teachers College, Warrensburg, Mo. In December, 1917, he married Miss KATHRYN JOHNSON at Rolla, Mo., and they have one child, ARCH HALL ALLISON. During the World War, 1918 and 1919, he was in the Infantry, United States Army at Camp Funston, Kan., and at Camp Grant, Ill., and also was in the Officers Training School at Camp Grant. He is a member of the American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and Masonic Lodge at Rolla, where he is engaged in the practice of law. Served two terms as City Attorney of Rolla and four consecutive terms, 1930-1938, as Prosecuting Attorney of Phelps County. First elected to the House of Representatives of the 51st General Assembly in 1920, he was re-elected in 1922 and again in 1924 to the House of Representatives of the 52nd and 53rd General Assemblies, serving as Speaker Pro Tem of the House in the 52nd General Assembly and as Democratic Floor Leader in the 53rd General Assembly. Elected to the Senate in 1938, he served in the 60th General Assembly as chairman of the Committee on Private Corporations, and as a member of the following other committees: Judiciary; Appropriations; Mines and Mining; Wills and Probate; Fees and Salaries; Fish and Game; Roads and Highways; University and School of Mines; Social Security and Pensions; Rules and Regulations.
