CONRATH (Democrat), Representative from Lewis County; born in LaGrange, Mo., October 2, 1900; educated in the public schools of LaGrange. He was married in Quincy, Ill., February 21, 1924, to Miss JAYNE CASON, and they have a son, BARNEY JAY. He served with the United States Marines during the World War. Is a merchant and resides at Ewing, Mo. Long active in Democratic politics, he has been a member of the Young Democratic Club of Lewis County since its organization. He served two terms as mayor of Ewing. Elected to the House of Representatives in 1938, he served as a member of the following committees in the 60th General Assembly: Banks and Banking; Private Corporations; Insurance; Fish and Game; Labor; Miscellaneous Resolutions. DR. EMMETT F. COOK (Democrat), Representative from Buchanan County, Second District; born August 5, 1873, at Stewartsville, Mo.; educated at Plattsburg College, Plattsburg; William Jewell College, Liberty; St. Louis Medical College, St. Louis, 1897, and New York Post Graduate College, 1918. He was married April 28, 1898, to Miss LAURA BENNETT at Clarksdale. He is a member of the Wyatt Park Baptist Church at St. Joseph, where he resides. A practicing physician and surgeon, Dr. Cook entered the United States Army as First Lieutenant, Medical Corps, and served during the World War as Regimental Surgeon, 337th Field Artillery, being discharged in 1919 with the rank of Major. Is a member of the MacDonald-Dugger-Duncan Post No. 11, American Legion, at St. Joseph. He also has served as physician for the Buchanan County jail; surgeon for the WPA, and is a member of the Missouri State Medical Association, the Buchanan County Medical Association, the surgical staffs of the Missouri Methodist and the St. Joseph's hospitals at St. Joseph, and is a Fellow of the American Medical Association. Committeeman for the Sixth Ward in the city of St. Joseph, he was elected in 1938 to the House of Representatives and served on the following committees in the 60th General Assembly: Public Health; Eleemonsynary Institutions; Probation and Parole; Roads and Highways; Military Affairs; Pensions.
