CRIST (Democrat), Representative from Greene County, Third District; born at Clifton, Ohio, February 29, 1884; educated in the public schools of Missouri and in the Kansas City Polytechnic Institute. He is a retired United States Army Captain and resides at Springfield, R.F.D. No. 10. He was married at Kansas City, October 28, 1906, to Miss ODETTE CHRISTIAN, who died October 30, 1916. Two sons, ROBERT H. and WILLIAM O., were born of this marriage. On October 4, 1926, he was married to Miss MERLE KYLE of Galax, Va. One son, RICHARD KYLE, was born of this marriage. He served in the Missouri National Guard from 1903 to 1916, inclusive; the Mexican Border Patrol, 1916; United States Military Serivce, 1917; was commissioned Captain of Infantry, February 13, 1917; permanently disabled in battle, September 27, 1918; served with the Inter-Allied Commission, Berlin, Germany, February 13 to August 15, 1919; retired with rank of Captain because of physical disability. The son of a Union veteran of the Civil War, he has been active in Greene County politics since 1933. He is a charter member of the Veterans Democrat Club of Greene County, organized in 1936, and served as its first president. He was appointed by Governor Stark on April 1, 1937, to fill an unexpired term as Public Administrator of Greene County. Among the organizations in which he holds membership are the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Retired Officers Association and the Masonic Lodge. Elected to the House of Representatives in 1938 from a nominally Republican district, he was appointed to the following committees of the 60th General Assembly: Military Affairs; Municipal Corporations; Official Salaries and Fees; Probation and Parole; Taxation and Revenue; Wills and Probate.
