(BERT) COOPER (Democrat), Representative from Nodaway County; born in New Windsor, Ill.; educated in the rural schools of Nodaway County, Maryville Seminary, Northwest Missouri Teachers College (B.S. Degree, 1924), University of Missouri, University of Chicago, and Harvard University (Master's Degree, 1928). In 1920 he married Miss EULA SHOWBERGER at Skidmore, Mo. He has been a member of the faculty of the Northwest Missouri State Teachers Collete since 1921, and resides at Maryville. Elected County Superintendent of Schools of Nodaway County in 1915, he was re-elected in 1919, serving until 1921, when he resigned to become a member of the Teachers College faculty. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1934 and re-elected in 1936 and 1938. In the 58th and 59th General Assemblies, he acted as Chairman of the Committee on Teachers Colleges. In the 60th General Assembly, he was Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and also was a member of the following other committees: Appropriations; Education; Constitutional Amentments; State Teachers Colleges; Building and Loan; Purchasing and Supplies.
