BYRNES (Democrat), Representative from St. Louis City, Fifth District; born in St. Louis, Mo., April 10, 1905; educated in the parochial schools of St. Louis and Yeatman high school. He has been in the real estate business in St. Louis for many years and resides at 4242 Holly Avenue there. He cast his first vote for the Democratic party on attaining his majority and has been a consistent party worker since, serving in various capacities. He was a judge of elections for six years and was a delegate to the Democratic State Convention in 1935. First elected to the House of Representatives in 1934, he acted as Chairman of the Committee on Municipal Corporations in the 59th General Assembly. In the 60th General Assembly, he was chairman of the Municipal Corporations Committee, and also was a member of the following other committees: Roads and Highways; Building and Loans; Official Fees and Salaries; Railroads and Internal Improvements; Permanent Seat of Government. EDMOND R. CALDWELL (Democrat), Representative from Ralls County; born January 22, 1890, at Perry, Mo.; educated in the public schools of Perry, graduating from the high school there and later from the Jones School of Chicago, Ill. He married Miss ELIZABETH MARIE CLEAVER at Shelbina, Mo., April 22, 1913, and they have four children, MINA RUTH, DORIS JEAN, EDMOND C. and JOAN ELIZABETH. He is a farmer, stockman and auctioneer and resides at Perry, near where he owns and operates a large farm. He has cried sales for twenty-three years in fourteen states. Long active in Democratic politics, he was elected to the House of Representatives in 1932 and re-elected in 1934, 1936 and 1938. In the 58th General Assembly, he acted as Chairman of the Committee on Roads and Highways. In the 59th General Assembly, he again headed the Roads and Highways Committee. In the 60th General Assembly, he served as Speaker Pro Tem, and was Chairman of the Rooms Committee, ranking member of the Roads and Highways Committee, and member of the following other committees: Agriculture: Appropriations; Banks and Banking; Ways and Means; Permanent Seat of Government.
