TURLEY (Democrat), Representative from Carter County; born in Gremont, Mo., November 1, 1894; educated in the public schools of Missouri and Southeast Missouri state Teachers College at Cape Girardeau. He was married to Miss BERNICE E. POLK at Low Wassie, Mo., October 16, 1920. They have two sons, ALAN REED and PAUL ENOCHS. An attorney, he resides at Van Buren, Mo. During the World War he served in the United States Navy, 1917-1919, training at San Francisco and later being attached to the Atlantic Fleet and to Overseas Transport Service. Is a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. He served as Prosecuting Attorney of Carter County, 1921-1925 and 1931-1935. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1926, 1928, 1934, 1936 and 1938. In the 59th General Assembly, he acted as chairman of the Committee on Pensions. In the 60th General Assembly, he served as chairman of the Committee on Civil and Criminal Procedure, and as a member of the following other committees: Revision; Judiciary; Roads and Highways; Social Security and Old Age Assistance; Fish and Game. PAUL E. TURNER (Democrat), Representative from Buchanan County, Third District; born April 12, 1899, in Faucett, Mo., educated in the Faucett grade and high schools and Gard Budiness College there. He is a farmer and salesman, is single and resides with his mother, Mrs. CYNTHIA M. TURNER, at Faucett. A member of an old Democratic family, he has been active in political affairs for years. Elected to the House of Representatives in 1936, he was re-elected in 1938 and served in the 60th General Assembly as chairman of the Committee on Workmen's Compensation, and as a member of the following other committees: Federal Relations; Insurance; Probation and Parole; Ways and Means; Roads and Highways.
