SCHERMANN (Republican), Representative from Gasconade County, born February 23, 1879, at Swiss, Gasconade County, Mo.; educated in the public schools of Gasconade County; high schools of Owensville and Hermann, Mo.; and the Southeast Missouri State Teachers College, Cape Girardeau, Mo. On June 23, 1904, he married Miss ANNIE M. KAHLE of Swiss, Mo. They have five children, WALDO G., a postal clerk; ESTHER M., now Mrs. Ray Duffner, Hermann; RAYMOND H., and RUTH A.., employed by the International Shoe Company; and ADDISON B., who is in the U. S. Engineering Department. For nine years he taught school in Gasconade and Osage Counties; in 1912, was elected Treasurer of Gasconade County and held that office three terms; in 1924, was appointed Postmaster at Hermann and held said office until March 31, 1936. He has been active in civic improvements. He was one of the six officers of the Hermann Bridge Company, which constructed the bridge over the Missouri River at Hermann in 1928. He is a member of Robert Blum Lodge No. 46, Aurelia Rebekah Lodge No. 465, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the St. Paul's Evangelical Church at Hermann. He is in the general insurance and real estate business at Hermann. Elected in 1938 to the House of Representatives of the 60th General Assembly, he served on the following committees: Fish and Game; Pensions; Permanent Seat of Government; Probation and Parole; Public Health; Roads and Highways.
