Her school days were spent in the public schools here, being enrolled in the business department of the Carrollton High School at the time of her illness. To know her was to be her friend, and her bright smile and congenial nature will be a great loss to the home she made happy. Some time ago she fell ill with pneumonia. Other complications and she rapidly grew worse until her death at ten o'clock Sunday morning. Following a brief service at the home Tuesday at 2:30, conducted by Rev. G.L. BUSH, interment took place at Oak Hill Cemetery. ```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Source (2 of 2): An article written by W.A. McVey in 1976 (copy of same can be found in a library in Sedalia, MO) The village of Buncombe was once located in section 16 of Bowling Green Twp in Pettis County. Its origins date to ca 1830-1835. An 1868 Business Guide lists Buncombe as the site of a Post Office. Some of the early settlers had arrived there from Buncombe County, NC. Two of those were Joel W. THOMAS & James A. GLENN. Also from NC were Judge J.W. BEEMAN, Milas W. BARNARD, William FERGUSON, Archibald LEVELACE & James HELMAN (?) HOLMAN. Buncombe is listed, on some maps, as an existing town in 1845, 1865 & 1869 and is shown as being on the Jefferson City-Georgetown Road (evidentally also called the Independence Road).
