THEDINGER (Democrat), Representative from Buchanan County, First District; born at St. Joseph, Mo., July 22, 1898; educated in the public schools of St. Joseph. Was married to Miss HELEN A. PIERCE at St. Joseph on July 15, 1920, and they have three children, MARRY EILEEN, ROBERT LOUIS and THEDA CATHERINE. Resides at 612 Hamburg Avenue, St. Joseph. He saw active service on the Mexican border in 1916 and with the A.E.F. in France, serving as Second Lieutenant after being decorated for valor with the Distinguished Service Cross while serving in Company E. 142 Infantry, 36th Division. He was the only member in the 58th General Assembly with that distinction. He also was a Reserve Officer until 1929. Is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, being a Past Adjutant, Department of Missouri, and Quartermaster of that organization. Also is a member of the American Legion. Affiliated with the Young Men's Democratic Club and of the First Ward Democratic Club of St. Joseph. He is connected with the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad and is a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, Local No. 92. First elected to the House of Representatives in 1934, he was re-elected in 1936 and served as chairman of the Permanent Seat of Government Committee. Elected a third time in 1938 with no opposition in either the primary or general election, he acted as chairman of the Committee on Elections in the 60th General Assembly and served as a member of the following other committees: Penal Institutions; Permanent Seat of Government; Labor; Railroads and Internal Improvements; Consolidation of Counties and Other Subdivisions of the State Government, Boards, Bureaus and Departments.
