WALKER (Democrat), Representative from Boone County; born June 14, 1877, near Pleasant Hill, Mo.; educated in the public schools, Central Missouri State Teachers College at Warrensburg, Peabody College for Teachers, Nashville, Tenn., and the University of Missouri. He was married August 7, 1907, in Greenridge, Mo., to Miss RUTH BRUNER and they have a daughter, SARAH ELIZABETH WALKER. Is secretary and editor of the Missouri State Teachers Association, and resides at 202 Thilly Avenue, Columbia, Mo. Long has been active in educational and political affairs, serving as County Superintendent of Schools of Cass County from 1909 to 1915; as Assistant State Superintendent of Schools, 1915 to 1919, and as a professor at the Southwest Missouri State Teachers College at Springfield from 1919 to 1920, when he became associated with the teachers association. Elected to the House of Representatives of the 59th General Assembly in 1936, he was re-elected in 1938, serving in the 60th General Assembly as chairman of the University Committee, and also as a member of the following other committees: Appropriations; Children's Code; Probation and Parole; School of Mines; Education.
