On October 5, 1929, he was married in Salem, Ark., to Miss DORA JOHNSON of Mammoth Springs, Ark., and they have three children, KATHERINE LOUISE, VIDA MARIE and KENNETH BUFORD. He is a farmer and school teacher and resides at West Plains, Mo., where he is a member of the Baptist Church and the K. of P. Lodge. Always a strong believer in the Republican party and active in its behalf, he was elected to the House of Representatives in 1936 and re-elected in 1938, serving in the 60th General Assembly as a member of the following committees: Education; Flood Control and Soil Conservation; Labor; Roads and Highways; Taxation and Revenue; Workmen's Compensation. WAYNE V. SLANKARD (Republican), Representative from Newton County; born June 26, 1910, at Neosho, Mo., educated in the Neosho high school, the University of Missouri, and the Kansas City Law School. Was married to Miss METSY McANTIRE at Columbus, Kans., December 8, 1931, and they have a daughter, CYNTHIA. An attorney, he served two terms as prosecuting attorney of Newton County, and resides at Neosho. He is a Past Vice-President of the Missouri Prosecuting Attorneys' Association, a member of the Missouri and American Bar Associations, and President of the Newton County bar Association. Elected in 1938 to the House of Representatives, he was a member of the following committees in the 60th General Assembly: udiciary; Municipal Corporations; Civil and Criminal Procedure; Federal Relations; Appropriations; Bills to be Perfected and Printed.
