STEINBECK (Republican), Representative from Franklin County; born in Gasconade County, Mo.; educated at the Staate School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla, Mo., and Southeast Missouri State Teachers College, Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was married to Miss OTILLIE E. PFOTENHAUER of Hermann, Mo., and they had three children, AUGUSTUS A., JOHN W., and HERBERT F., the latter of whom died in 1930. He is an editor and publisher and resides in Union, Mo. He was School Commissioner of Gasconade and Franklin Counties and Superintendent of Schools at Pacific, Mo., seven years; Circuit Clerk of Franklin County twelve years; Secretary of the State Tax Commission and State Board of Equalization; Deputy State Labor Commissioner, and Parole Commissioner, Department of State Penal Institutions.
