Was born at St. Louis, Mo., May 11, 1893; educated in the parochial and public schools, Central high school, St. Louis University, St. Louis University Law School (LL.B.) and City College of Law and Finance (LL.M.). Was admitted to the bar in January, 1924. He has always been active in Democratic politics, being a precinct worker at an early age; first President of Junior Democrats, which later bacame Young Democrats of St. Louis, and is now the Jefferson Club of St. Louis; is a Past President of the Jefferson Club and for seven years a member of its board of directors; was a delegate to Democrat National Conventions in 1928, 1932, and 1936; elected and served as a member of Board of Education of St. Louis, from 1935 to 1937, resigning to assume the circuit bench seat to which he was elected in 1936 for a term of six years. Served for fifteen months as a Chief Petty Officer in the U. S. Navy during the World War, being assigned to the U.S.S. Yantic, U.S.S. Willemette, and U.S. Eagle Boats Nos. 11, 25, and 18. Is a member of Delta Theta Phi fraternity, Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, and of Fred Stockham Post No. 245, American Legion. He is single and resides at 2246 Mullanphy Street, St. Louis. Norma
