OFFICIAL MANUAL STATE OF MISSOURI 1939-1940 Legislative Departments Members State Senate Page 55 BERT BRADLEY (Democrat), Senator from the Sixteenth District; born December 10, 1890, in Bates County, Mo.; educated in the public schools of Bates County, later attending college at Sprague, Mo. He was married at Butler, Mo., May 1, 1920, to Miss WILLA A. PETTY and they have one daughter, RENA DALE. Is a gasoline and oil dealer and resides at Butler. During the World War, he served with Battery A, 28th Field Artillary, at Camp Funston, Kan. In 1920 he became Assistant Night Yardmaster of the Missouri Penitentiary; from 1921 to 1924, was deputy sheriff of Bates County, and was sheriff of that county two terms, 1925-1928. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1936 and served in the 59th General Assembly. In 1938, he was elected to the Senate, serving in the 60th General Assembly as chairman of the Committee on Fish and Game, and as a member of the following other committees: Commerce and Manufactories; Elections; Mines and Mining; Naval Affairs and Permanent Seat of Government; Railroads and Internal Improvements; University and School of Mines.
