BROWN (Republican), Representative from Harrison County; born March 18, 1876, in Grundy County, Mo.; educated in the Missouri State Teachers Colleges at Kirksville and Maryville, and Grand River College at Edinburg, Mo. He married Miss DORA M. GARDNER of Harrison County, June 20, 1906, and they have three children, EVA JANE and EMMA RUTH, teachers in the Harrison County schools, and THOMAS VIRGIL, a student in the high school of Gilman City, Mo. He is a farmer and resides at Milbourne, Mo. He has spent his live as a merchant, school teacher and stockman in the community in which he now resides. Active in politics since 1896, he was Township Trustee in 1901 and 1902; Postmaster at Brimson, Mo., 1905; and Assistant Dairy Commissioner of Missouri, 1920 to 1933, serving under five governors. He first represented Harrison County in the 50th General Assembly. Elected again in 1934, he was re-elected in 1936 and 1938, increasing his majority at each succeeding election. In the 60th General Assembly, he served as a member of the following committees: Agriculture; Education; Mines and Mining; Permanent Seat of Government; Revision; Purchasing and Supplies. WILLIAM WARREN BURKE (Democrat), Representative from St. Louis City, Third District; born in St. Louis, Mo., July 13, 1897; educated in the public and parochial schools of St. Louis. He was married November 19, 1929, in Union, Mo., to Miss CLARA FELTS. During the World War he served in the United States Army, A merchant, he resides at 1713a O'Fallon Street in St. Louis. Elected to the House of Representatives in 1932, serving as Chairman of the Committee on Labor in the 57th General Assembly. Re-elected in 1934, he acted as Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Amendments in the 58th General Assembly. Again re-elected in 1936, he again was Chairman of the Constitutional Amendments Committee in the 59th General Assembly. Elected for the fourth time in 1938, he served in the 60th General Assembly as Chairman of the Committee on Comstitutional Amendments, and as a member of the following other committees: Criminal Jurisprudence; Elections; Municipal Corporations; Railroads and Internal Improvements; Taxation and Revenue.
