Long an active Democrat, he was elected to the House of Representatives in 1934 and re-elected in 1936 and in 1938. In the 59th General Assembly, he acted as Chairman of the Committee on Retrenchment and Official Service. He is a cotton planter, is single and resides on Route No. 3, Portageville, Mo. He is a member of the Rotary Club and of the Missouri Athletic Association. Active in Democratic politics, he was elected to the House of Representatives in 1936; he served in the 59th and 60th General Assemblies, being Chairman of the Committee on State Teachers College in the 60th General Assembly, and as a member of the following other committees: Agriculture; Commerce and Manufactories; Fish and Game; Insurance; Transportation, Other Than Railroads. J. JULES BRINKMAN (Democrat), Representative from St. Louis City, Second District; born in St. Louis, Mo., June 18, 1901; educated at Chaminade College, St. Louis; University of Missouri School of Engineering; St. Louis University, graduating from the Commerce and Finance School with a B. C. S. degree, and from the School of Law there with an LL. B. degree. An attorney, he has offices at 705 Olive Street in St. Louis and resides at 1318 Shenandoah Avenue there. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, St. Louis Bar Association, Lawyers' Association of the Eighth Judicial Circuit and the Law Library Association. Prominent in Democratic politics in St. Louis for years, he was elected to the House of Representatives and re-elected in 1936 and 1938. In the 59th General Assembly, he acted as chairman of the Committee on Swamp Lands, Drainage and Levees. He was Chairman of the Committee on Commerce and Manufactories in the 60th General Assembly and also was a member of the following other committees at that session: Judiciary; Civil and Criminal Procedure; Transportation, Other Than Railroads; Social Security and Old Age Assistance; Revision.
