B. degree (1928), University of Missouri, LL.B. degree (1930), and at Kansas University. He married Miss OLEAN LOTTON at Bellflower, Mo., February 17, 1931, and they have two sons, WILLIAM BARTON III and GARY LUCIEN BARTON. An attorney, he resides at Jonesburg. Interested in many activities, he served as president of the Older Boys' Conference of Montgomery County; Christian Students Congregation Evening Forum of Columbia; Young People's Christian Association of Jonesburg, and the Young Republican Club of Montgomery County. He is a member of the Delta Theta Phi legal Fraternity. Was a candidate for Prosecuting Attorney of Montgomery County in 1932, and first was elected to the House of Representatives in 1934, being re-elected in 1936 and 1938. In the 60th General Assembly, he served as minority floor leader and as a member of the following committees: Constitutional Amendments; Criminal Costs; Judiciary; Municipal Corporations; Revision; Rules; Social Security and Old Age Assistance; Steering. H. CLAY BENTLEY (Democrat), Representative from Howard County; born in Chariton County, Mo., June 12, 1904; educated in the grade school of Forest Green, Chariton County, and high school of Glasgow, Mo.; married Miss HAZEL ESTILL of Glasgow, March 3, 1924. He is the third of his family to represent Howard County in the Missouri House of Representatives, his grandfather, H. CLAY COCKERILL, was a member of the 24th General Assembly,and and uncle H. W. COCKERILL, werved in the 32nd General Assembly. A farmer and mail contractor, he resides at Glasgow, Mo. He has been active in Democratic politics for years and is a member of the Young Democratic Club of Howard County.
