DORAN (Democrat), Senator from the Twenty-ninth District; born in St. Louis, Mo., May 30, 1886; educated in the public schools and Benton College of Law in St. Louis. On May 30, 1935, he was married in Fulton, Mo., to Miss ELIZABETH BRYAN SMART, it being his second marriage. He has six children and resides at 3345 Oakhill Avenue in St. Louis, where he is engaged in the general hauling business. Always an active Democratic worker, he was elected to the State Senate in 1932, being the first Democratic Senator from that district in forty years. Re-elected in 1936, he acted as chairman of the Committee on Commerce and Manufactories in the 59th General Assembly. In the 60th General Assembly he again acted as chairman of the Commerce and Manufactories Committee, and also was a member of the following other committees: Municipal Corporations; Insurance; Fish and Game; Roads and Highways; Retrenchment, Reform, Abolition and Consolidation of Boards, Bureaus and Commissions; Naval Affairs and Permanent Seat of Government; Bills Perfected and Ordered Printed.
