OFFICIAL MANUAL STATE OF MISSOURI 1939-1940 Legislative Departments Members State Senate Page 60 PERCY PEPOON (Democrat), Senator from the Thirtieth District; born in Warren, Jo Daviess County, Ill., November 11, 1861; educated in the public schools and the United States Military Academym West Point, N.Y. He married Miss BEATRICE TRENCHARD VIGGERS at Falls City, Neb., April 8, 1885, and they have three children, RALPH, long a Democratic worker in St. Louis; Mrs. A. E. BIGGERS, a resident of Springfield, Mo.; and Mrs. MADA WOOD, Democratic Committeewoman from the Eighth Ward of St. Louis. He also has three grandchildren, BETTY ANN and JAMES RING PEPOON and ROBERT W. CHURCHILL of St. Louis. His wife died in 1925. Served two terms as President of St. Louis Typographical Union No. 8, and for many years was a member of the executive board of the Central Trades and Labor Union of St. Louis and vicinity. While publishing a newspaper at Hardy, Ark., 1898-1901, he served as Mayor of Hardy, and as Secretary and later Chairman of the Sharp County, Ark., Democratic Central Committee. He is a printer and resides at 1766 Mississippi Avenue, St. Louis. He was elected State Senator in 1934, and acted as chairman of the Committee on Labor in the 59th General Assembly. Re-elected in 1938, he again acted as chairman of the Labor Committee in the 60th General Assembly and also was a member of the following other committees: Elections; Redistricting and Constitutional Amendments; Commerce and Manufactories; Workmen's Compensation; Bills Perfected and Ordered Printed.
