MANESS (Democrat), Representative from Ripley County; born in Frankford, Mo., March 19, 1904; educated in the public schools of Doniphan, Mo., the University of Missouri and Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn., from which he graduated with and LL.B. degree. On June 5, 1930, he was married in Jonesboro, Ark., to Miss MACYE JONES, who also graduated from Cumberland University with A.B. and LL.B. degrees. They are associated in general practice of law and operation of the Ripley County Abstract Co. at Doniphan, Mo. where they reside. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1930 and served in the 56th General Assembly. He also served as Prosecuting Attorney of Ripley County in 1933 and 1934, and was City Attorney of Doniphan from 1931 to 1939, inclusive. Is a member of the Grievance Committee of the 33rd Judicial Circuit of Missouri, and Secretary of the the Ripley County Bar Association. He also is a member of the Presbyterian Church. Elected a second time to the House of Representatives in 1938, he served in the 60th General Assembly as a member of the following committees: ppropriations; Judiciary; Roads and Highways; Agriculture; Civil and Criminal Procedure; Employees and Clerical Force.
