LAUF (Democrat), Representative from Cole County; born in Taos, Mo., October 28, 1894; educated in the public schools of Cole County, Central Missouri State Teachers College, Warrensburg, (1917), and University of Missouri School of Law, (1923). He is an attorney in Jefferson City with offices in the Central Missouri Trust Building and residing on Green Berry Road there. On August 5, 1919, he was married in Kansas City, Mo., to Miss BLANCHE SMITH, and they have two children, MARJORIE and RICHARD. During the World War he served in the 89th Division with the A. E. F., and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, having served two years as Missouri Department Commander of the former organization. First elected to the House of Representatives in 1932, he was re-elected in 1934, 1936, and 1938. In the 57th General Assembly, he acted as chairman of the Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence; in the 58th General Assembly as chairman of the Committee on Eleemosynary Institutions; in the 59th General Assembly as chairman of the Committee on Judiciary; and in the 60th General Assembly he again was chairman of the Judiciary Committee, as well as a member of the following other committees: Appropriations; Banks and Banking; Consolidation of Counties and Other Subdivisions of the State Government, Boards, Bureaus and Departments; Printing.
