HANKS (Democrat), Representative from Jasper County, Second District; born in 1891 at Joplin, Mo.; educated in the public schools of Jasper County; married Miss BEATRICE McKNIGHT at Carthage, Mo., in 1914, and they reside on R. F. D. No. 2, Joplin. He is engaged in the practice of law, with offices in the Miners Bank Building, Joplin. He has been an active Democrat all his life, serving as precinct committeeman and in other capacities in his county organization. He was elected to the House of Representatives of the 59th General assembly in 1936, and re-elected in 1938, being without opposition in both primaries. In the 60th General Assembly, he acted as chairman of the Committee on Criminal Costs and also served as a member of the following other committees: Appropriations; Building and Loan; Mines and Mining; Municipal Corporations. JOHN B. HASKELL (Democrat), Representative from Jackson County, First District; born in Omaha, Neb., March 5, 1869; educated in the public schools of Omaha. He is a merchant and baseball umpire, and resides at the Dixon Hotel, Kansas City, Mo. Since 1899, he has been a Pendergast goat in Kansas City politics. After serving in the House of Representatives in the 54th, 55th, 56th, 57th, 58th, and 59th General Assemblies, he was re-elected in 1938 and served in the 60th General Assembly as chairman of the Committee on Accounts and as a member of the following other committees: Appropriations; Constitutional Amendments; Miscellaneous Resolutions; Municipal Corporations; Railroads and Internal Improvements; Workmen's Compensation. SAMUEL C. HAYDEN (Democrat), Representative from Jackson County, Ninth District; born at Kansas City, Mo., November 22, 1899; educated in the Kansas City Public schools and Kansas City School of Law. He is single and resides at 4114 South Benton, Kansas City. An attorney, he has offices at 617 Commerce Building, Kansas City. He served in the United States Navy during the World War, and is a member of the American Legion, Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, Jackson County Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, and the Southside Regular Democratic Club of Kansas City. A Democrat worker since early manhood, he ran for public office first in 1938, when he was elected to the House of Representatives of the 60th General Assembly, serving as a member of the following committees: Judiciary; Wills and Probate; Official Salaries and Fees; Transportation Other Than Railroads; Municipal Corporations; Elections.
